Danny pat his nutcracker's tall cap as he entered his office, plopping exasperatedly into his faux-leather swivel chair. He began muttering to himself as he pinned numbers into his plastic calculator.
"Ten thousand new subscribers a day...I'd have to expand the living area...Definitely going to have to add two more bedrooms to the East wing."
He frustratedly grasped his face with both hands- stress seemed to weigh him down as his chair sunk closer to the floor; almost like a night hag was perched on top his chest.
Over the years his once-moderately-sized house had become a jumble of lengthy hallways, half-painted bedrooms, furniture in bizarre places- From an outside perspective it'd look like he'd reincarnated Dr. Seuss to be his contractor.
Danny knew how ridiculous it seemed, but what was he supposed to do? He couldn't just kick out his family- his Greg!
Of course, not every Greg came to reside with him. Some of them preferred staying where they were; watching Danny on YouTube from another state or even an entirely different country. Still, the sheer amount of Greg overwhelmed him.
Without warning, a parade of assorted cheers and screeches asserted themselves to his attention. The sounds penetrated his walls, jolting him from his dazed state. He sprung up and rushed into the hallway to spy on the action from one of his many windows, choosing one which overlooked the backyard. Before sliding it open, he did a quick survey of the corridor he was fixed in, finally noticing how ominously vacant his entire house had been. A ghost town.
He unlatched the window, vigorously forcing it open and peering outside. Dread instantaneously filled him, crashing down onto his every fiber like a tidal wave engulfing a dry beach.
He watched in anguish as every single one of his Greg partied euphorically around a flaming pile of Drew's YouTooz. their plastic exteriors melted away, leaving behind a snarled mess of colors- the heat making their miniature faces unrecognizable.
It never registered to Danny how grim this situation was becoming- for both him and his friend- and how he was trapped right in the middle of it all. But in that moment, he knew...
If they couldn't patch things up, he would eventually have to face a difficult decision: his Greg, or his best friend.
