After our last day of training was complete it was almost night time, and I was exhausted! “Ok! That was a great day of training, now onto the plan!” Eve exclaimed in excitement.

“But I still have questions!” I said quickly, and desperately. “I trained, we’re ready,”I said while pointing to Test Steve. “And you guys promised to explain things afterwards, sooooooo let’s hear it!” I said almost with a pout.

“He’s right sis,” Test Steve said. “Besides since he’s involved he ought to know, it’s for the best.”

Eve exhaled a long held sigh, “Oh alright, follow me boys!” She said reluctantly, and Test Steve and I followed behind her. She led us back into the lab, and over to a wall. I was very confused, was something supposed to happen? Eve turned her head and winked at the 2 of us, then stepped up to the wall, and with a huff and a grinding sound the wall slipped into the floor. I was Ah struck! And I'm positive it was showing cause Test Steve was giggling at my reaction, and Eve strutted down the stairs into the new section. As we walked in I saw a large room that had a table with scattered papers on it, as well as candles to keep the room lit. but what was the most captivating was the image on the wall. It was HUGE! It spanned the entire length of the wall, but for something so huge, I didn’t quite understand what it was? It looked almost like a nether portal, but bigger, and in the shape of an… eye? “What is all this?” I ask with both wonder and confusion.

“Well if you would take a seat, you’d know!” Eve said very sassy might I add! But I complied with a huff and a few inaudible mumbles along the lines of well don't blame me for wanting to look around, or geesh someone’s grumpy, and who died and made you boss! But hey! No one knows! (wink, wink!)

“Ok this might take a while, so prepare yourselves.” She began. “Long ago, back when I was starting out as a scientist I was experimenting on animals with 2 strange, and unfamiliar substances. One a glowing blue ore, but not diamond or lapis, when mined it produced a stone, a light blue shining stone. The other was a black, tar like substance. I later came to call that stuff Corrupt Matter, and I discovered any living thing can become infected and corrupt, if the corrupt matter wished to corrupt it. And once a living being is infused with the corrupt matter, they can control it however they see fit. I was fascinated by that stuff, but I also learned that the power of that gem could also be harnessed, but only by something that already has the gem's energy within it. I came to call it the Matter Gem But no living thing had that unique energy signature within themselves, I would need test subjects.” She paused and glanced at Test Steve. He was looking down, a shadow cast across his features, I couldn’t make out his expressions, but I knew he was remembering things he didn’t want to. Placing a hand on his shoulder he looks up at me, and our eyes lock, I give his shoulder a comforting and reassuring squeeze, and he smiles a small smile, but a genuine one. He looks over at Eve and nods, signaling her to continue. “I took 3 villagers, they were males, the oldest became Test Subject #1, the youngest was Test Subject #2 or Test Steve as we call him, and the middle one was Test Subject #3.I used Test Steve to test out the Matter Gem’s powers, by infusing him with one. And I did a similar process with Test Subject #1, only I infused him with the Corrupt Matter. I was struggling on what to do with Test Subject #3, then I thought about a test I had done involving the 2 substances, when they were in close proximity with each other, energy went flying, it was as if the energies within both the Matter Gem and the Corrupt Matter were pushing against each other, trying to destroy one another. So I thought, ‘what if I put both a Matter Gem and Corrupt Matter within one vessel?’ And so I tested it within the body of Test Subject #3. All 3 of my subjects survived the testing, and I had 1 fully corrupt being, one pure being, and a half-and-half being. I was ecstatic with the results, and so I continued my experiments, but over time, and prolonged exposure to Corrupt Matter I found that my experiments were becoming more and more dangerous and painful. And my long time goal of doing good through scientific means, was lost and forgotten. One day, the Test Subjects rebelled against me, they were led by Test Subject #1, or Corrupt Steve as he calls himself. They tried to destroy everything, but I fought back. It turned into a mini war between the Test Subjects and myself with my golems and security systems. Eventually, Test Steve became tired of the conflict, and came to side with me against the others, and that’s when he told me of Corrupt Steve’s plans. He wanted to corrupt everything, and every living being in this world, and he had already building a Corrupt Army to serve only him. He was planning world domination, and it was all because of me. I knew about his twisted mind and his devotion to corruption, and he had threatened me numerous times, saying he’s corrupt me and the world, but I dismissed it, thinking it was just crazy talk, or good dreams of his. But now I saw the truth, and so with Test Steve’s help I was able to lock away ALL of the Test Subjects, and sealed myself away as well, in case they ever got out, like now,” she said while looking me dead in the eyes. I couldn’t help but shrink away from her piercing gaze, I knew it was me who released Corrupt Steve and Test Subject #3, and that I was the one who doomed the world. But now that I know the entire story, I just couldn’t help but feel worse. Test STeve and Eve had risked their lives just to seal them away, and I undid all their hard work, and suffering, but I was going to make it right! I had to! “Now that you know our story, and you’re all trained up and ready to fight, its time we bring the fight to them!” Eve said triumphantly!

“Yeah! Let's go kick some corrupt butt!” Said Test STeve jumping to his feet. I couldn’t help laughing at what he said. “What?” Poor Test Steve was confused, but I only laughed harder, and even Eve started giggling as well.

“Sit down Test Steve, you don’t even know the plan, or where we’re going.” Eve said, her composure regained, while a red faced and pouting Test STeve sat back down. “Now then Corrupt Steve and Test Subject #3 are most likely in the corrupt dimension, since I haven’t been able to pick up on their energy signals, we’ll have to go there.”

“But how do we get there?” I asked.

“With this!” Eve answered pointing at the large portrait on the wall. “That is the portal to the Corrupt Dimension! We’ll have to build it and ignite the frame in order to travel from here to there. It will take a few days to build, but we can do it, together.” She said, putting her hand in the middle of the table.

“Together” Test Steve agreed and put his hand on top of Eve’s. Then both turned their heads towards me, waiting for my decision. But I had made up my mind a while ago, there was no decision to make.

“Together!” And with all our hands in the middle together, we were officially a team.

And so for the next 2 days the 3 of us work on building the portal frame. Eve showed us the spot, it was on the side of a mountain, so there was a lot we had to mine out, but we did it! Test Steve and I took out our weapons, so with a flint and steel in hand, Eve lit the portal and we all stepped through. The battle was about to commence!
