The young girl was impatient, waiting for the opportune moment to pull her living doll from his hiding place, but she didn't want to act too soon. Though the sun has long since left the sky, she had to hold out until everyone was tucked away in their beds and fast asleep before spending time with her magical friend. She had opted to sleep on the couch, though her mom had offered to share the guest bed with her. It had been a tempting offer, especially since the bed was more comfortable, however she really wanted to speak with Max in private. Thankfully, no one pushed on it, and she was left with a couple pillows and a warm blanket to cover her. Y/N listened closely to every footstep in the bedrooms above until, at last, all fell silent, and she deemed it safe to move. Getting up slowly, the girl tiptoed her way into the kitchen before opening every cabinet and calling out to her friend quietly.

"Max, where are you? You can come out now." Her eyes looked left to right in search of her miniaturized companion, but he couldn't be found. Earlier, when he was about to change, she had rushed him into the bathroom until the transformation was complete. Luckily, Max had learned about that new trick of his when she was sleeping over at Darcy's house. It made it much easier to hide him when all he had to do was hop onto her hand and let her take him to an ideal spot. In this case, it was the kitchen cabinets. Pouting a little, she closed the doors and gasped as she was squeezed tightly from behind and lifted up. A quiet giggle played in her ear.

"Got you~ Are you sure it's safe now? I wouldn't want the mean ol' Duke to find me." Giggling back at him, Y/N smiled as Max set her down on her feet.

"He's asleep under the table in the dining room," she tells him so that he would not worry, looking up at the taller figure. He smiles and nods before holding a finger to his lips.

"We shall have to play mouse, then, as to not wake him," he whispers with a wink. Y/N shakes her head at him and takes his hand before guiding him over to the couch, being careful of every step, while his feet were so silent, one would hardly know he was there at all. The creature hums at the state of her makeshift bed and clicks his tongue.

"Now, this just wont do. It doesn't look soft or cozy at all." He hums. "Ah! I know, let's make a blanket fort. We haven't made one in so long. What do you think?" Smiling, Y/N agrees, and so, they get to work, emptying the couch of all blankets, cushions and pillows before laying the materials out on the floor to see what they had to work with, which unfortunately, wasn't much. Suddenly, Y/N remembered something.

"There are more blankets in the basket over there too. Should we use them?" She asks, pointing to the basket in question, to which her doll nods enthusiastically.
