"I mean she's so perfect in her own little world. We built the foundation, everything I want in a girl."

EVEN THOUGH HE WOULD NEVER admit it, Rome loved all things love. He loved the shared moments, the constant habit of thinking about a loved one, and the caring and intimacy that came with it.
Even though he loved love, he happened to love making people feel loved more than the sense of feeling loved. He could never explain why but anyone showing him any kind of affection made him feel weird. The only people that he never felt weird receiving love from were close family members... and India. He loved making people feel loved, but the part that was always tricky for him? Explaining what it is that makes him love that person.
Sometimes he would stop and ask himself 'what is it that you love about India?' Well, Rome, what do you love about her?
Maybe his love goes beyond what's on the surface. Maybe it's her personality that drew him to her. She had been an enigma to him since the first day he saw her and even though he knew more about her now, there was still that aspect of her that Rome still failed to figure out. Not to say he would no longer love her if he was able to figure her out, but the mystery behind her personality made him love her even more.
Maybe he loved the way she spoke. Maybe it was the way she articulated her words, occasionally throwing in some big word that she knew barely anyone in her social circle knew the definition of.
He loved the fact that she was more than a pretty face. She also had brains. Enough brains to keep her on the chancellor's list and land her a spot in the university's honors program. She knew so much shit that Rome would look at her sometimes and go 'how do you even know that?'
Now that she sat in front of him, the list of things Rome loved about India could go on and on. She sat at the table laughing at something funny she had seen, but if she asked what she had said over the last couple of minutes, Rome would have zero clue what to tell her. All he could do was stare and focus on the fact that India was really his girlfriend.
Sometimes he felt like he was dreaming. Like he would wake up one day just to find out that everything that has happened since his first semester of college was a lie. Like he never laid eyes on India in that algebra class and she never walked up to him on the quad.
Everything Rome wanted in a girl, he found in India. She was perfection personified in his eyes and nothing she could say or do would change his views on her.
Noticing the quietness coming from Rome's side of the table, India looked up from her phone to find him staring at her in silence.
"What?" She asked, but Rome was too busy admiring her to comprehend that she had said something to him.
Rome had a younger sister who loved reading and watching romance and sharing the love stories she learned about with other people. He could name countless details from multiple love stories, but this one by far was his favorite. He hoped it would last forever but after all, love is only a feeling.
