Alex's POV (time skip to the new greenie coming).
A loud alarm blares through the glade like it was trying to make us deaf. I look at Frypan, who looks quite relaxed about the whole situation. He mouths the words 'greenies alarm'. Of course, it's been a month since I've made my spectacular entrance into the Glade. I raced out of the kitchen and straight towards the box. People have already started to gather around the box and start yelling over the commotion. This is what I had heard when I was coming up. I stand at the very front, I just want to see if it's another girl or not. I look down at my left hand, it's healed pretty quick and it's like new. I switch my gaze to the maze walls, I shudder at the memory of Newt showing me the walls opening for the runners to leave. The alarm has been going off for about ten minutes and it doesn't seem to quieting down, same with the boys. They are getting louder and louder until I've had enough.
"Slim it! I'm starting to get a splitting headache because of you slintheads and that shucking alarm! It has happened before and you know what happens! If you can't shut up, I will make you shut up myself!" I yell over the alarm, glaring at anyone who happens to make eye contact with me. That shut them up pretty quickly.
"Thank you." I mumble and turn back around to face the box. I see Alby and Nick walk about next to me, I nod down at the box asking if I could go and get the greenie. Nick nods and continues to stare at the box. The next twenty minutes drag out slowly but when the alarm stops and Nick and Alby open the box. I jump down into the box to see something unexpected.
"Uh Nick? I think the greenie is a goat." I shout up. Nicks head pops over the box and looks down. There's a goat loose walking about the box.
"Winston, your goats here!" Alby shouts over everyone as they decided to start shouting again. Suddenly, a figure jumps out from a dark corner in the box and basically uses me as a ladder to get out. I fall to the floor and quickly get up and use on of the boxes to pull myself out. I try to find the person that ran me over and I see a clear path between gladers and it leads straight towards the North wall. I groan and run through the path and chase after them. They're getting closer and closer to wall and I sprint over as fast as I can. From what I can see, it's a boy. He's barely made it to the wall when I rugby tackle him to the ground and grab him by the collar dragging him back to where the rest of the gladers are.

Nick's POV
When Alex sprints off after the greenie and tackles him to the ground. There's many 'oohs' and 'we don't want to get on Alex's bad sides'. When I see Alex dragging the greenie back by the collar, I can tell today is going to be a great day. I point over to the slammer so that the greenie can calm down. She nods and drags him behind the homestead.
"Well, I think we've got a keeper of the greenies and fourth in command, don't ya think?" I say to Alby and he nods in agreement.
"Okay shanks, shows over get back to work." I say and all of them grudgingly walk away except for Winston and Joe who are trying to get the goat out of the box. Alex walks back over and does not look happy.
"Alby? How much of a head start could we get from Alex? She looks like she's going to beat the klunk out of someone."
"I'll give it a few seconds, we won't get very far except for you." I laugh and wait on Alex.
"Alex! I see you've met the greenie! Oh and your now the keeper of the greenies and fourth in command!" I say with a clap at the end. She rolls her and eyes.
"His names Ben and I need water. Boys don't go down without a fight." Alex says.
"Alby get some water, I need to talk to Alex." Alby walks away leaving me and Alex alone at the box.
"How do you feel?" I ask meaning about not being the greenie anymore,
"I feel like I've been ran over my a boy and used as if I was a ladder. Aw what that already happened!" She says with sarcasm dripping from her voice.
"Well, your gonna have to get used to it." I say.
"Why am I both keeper of the greenies and fourth in command?" She ask still trying to catch her breath.
"Well, you handled the greenie pretty well and you show leadership skills. Trust me, trying to get those shanks to shut up when there's a new greenie is difficult. Good thing they listen to you. Also, before you ask, I'm the leader, Alby is second in command, Newt is third and your fourth." I say while Alby hands Alex a glass of water and she gulps it down without taking a breath.
"Take the rest of the day off, you've earned it this morning." I say.
"Thanks." She says and wanders off to the deadheads.
"Let's get to work." I say as Alby and I walk away.

Alex's POV
A whole day off? All I did was catch the greenie and throw him in the slammer. I think as I walk through the deadheads, it's peaceful in here. No boys to pester you, the only downside is it's where they've buried people. I pick a tree, not to far from sight of the glade and climb it. When I get to a reasonable height, I pick a branch that would hold my weight. I sit with my back against against the trunk and I think about the responsibility of being a keeper and one of the leader.
I must've dozed off as by the time I'm awake, the doors are closing which means Newt is back. I quickly climb down the tree and I search for him. When I find him, he must've been looking for me.
"Guess who's the new keeper of the greenies and fourth in command?!" I say.
"Let me think, Gally? Minho? Winston?" Newt asks.
"No you slinthead. It's me!" I say while jumping around.
"I know! I heard how you tackled him." I nod and we both hug. He smells of sweat but I don't mind.
"C'mon let's get dinner. I'm starving." He says.
"Me too. I missed lunch." I say as we walk to the homestead.

After dinner, Newt and I trudge up to our room and both climb into opposite ends of the bed without realising it. It takes me a while to find sleep, but when I do I immediately regret every trying to attempt to sleep.
