"Oh my God, Y/N, look at this!"
Emma, your coworker and probably only friend you've made during your time at AEW, basically shoved her phone into your face.
As soon as you saw the small dog clumsily trying to catch the huge ball and miserably failing, you let out a hearty laughter and held your stomach.
"Ems, where do you find this stuff? I can't...", followed by another laughter. Pet videos truly were the best.

After a few more minutes of funny pet videos, you looked at the time at the on the phone and let out a huff.

"Shit, I gotta go. TK's assistant wants to meet in 10 minutes. Pray I don't get fired!" You yelled before hurrying to make it to Tony Khan's office.

Emma remained in her spot, mindlessly scrolling through her feed until she noticed someone approaching her.

"Hi....Can I talk to you for a second? I don't want to sound like a creep but...you're friends with Y/N, right?" He was, indeed, fully aware that he did sound like a creep. After all, he remained creeping in the shadows until she was gone. Emma didn't need to know that, though.

"Yeah...Well, you do sound a bit like one right now, Cash." She gave a small chuckle trying to lighten the mood. He seemed to be really tense. It didn't work, he just kept looking down at her.

There was an awkward silence between the two of them as he tried to find the right words, and when they didn't come to him, he just asked what he wanted to know.

"Is...is she happy?"

"With someone?" She replied while raising both her eyebrows.

Cash just sighed. "Yes, no. Maybe. I don't know. I was just wondering if she's happy. In general." He tried to explain, but really couldn't because he didn't know why he had asked her in first place.

"Oh. Uh, I don't know if it's my place to answer that. Honestly, I couldn't even give you an answer. She just keeps everything to herself. I barely know a thing about her personal life.'' She truthfully answered. Realizing Cash was not satisfied with her reply, she continued. "I don't think she's in a relationship, at least not a happy one. She's never mentioned anyone. Why, why don't you just ask her herself? She seems to be pretty fond of you, never misses a match of yours." Emma concluded while getting up from her chair and patting Cash on the shoulder as to encourage him to finally make a move.

And truth be told: he had tried.
Tried to talk to you on the hallway, make you stop in your tracks whenever you two passed each other. He tried to get to know something, ANYTHING, about you.
He tried, tried, tried, but to no avail. The only things he learned was that you liked rock music, dogs, and reading. That was it.

But that wasn't enough for him.
He wanted more.
He needed more.
He wanted you happy, just like a few minutes ago, when your laughter echoed through the hallway.

It had become his obsession, and he knew it. Of course it wasn't normal to care that much for someone he didn't even know. But he couldn't fight it, and he had tried. He simply couldn't get those eyes out of his head...
He had to do something about it.

-------------------------

And he did.
The next time he saw you sitting at one of the crates backstage, face again buried deep in a book, he excused himself from Dax and Tully and walked over to you.

"I see you're now onto the real heavy stuff." He said motioning to the book in front of you: Ulysses.

Cash was startled when you let out an annyoed groan.
"I am telling you, I will ragequit this piece of garbage. I am 50 pages in and have no idea what the hell it is even about. I've read the last sentence five fucking times." You threw the book on the crate to emphasize your point. Then you realized your sudden outburst and apologized.
