A few days after Cash's brithday, you were sent to Tony Khan's office. Your nerves had kicked in right away when your supervisor told you the time to be there.
You gently knocked on the door, almost too soft to be heard. When the door opened despite your attempt to not be noticed, your nervousness almost made you faint. This could only be bad news. Maybe you had to leave your apartment...but you paid your rent on time...or maybe you were part of a group of people that weren't needed anymore; rumors had spread fast backstage about some potential cuts.
"Come in." The assistant cheerfully said to you, but the way she said it made you even more nervous. She moved passed you to the door on the other side of the room and poked her head in.
"She's here." A few more words were exchanged between the two, but remained inaudible to you.
Then, she motioned for you to enter the next room.
"You wanted to see me, Mr. Khan?" You tried to hide the tenseness, although you could hear it dripping from your voice.
"Yes, Y/N, have a seat. And call me Tony, please." You sat down on the other side of the desk and started fumbling with your hands underneath the table. "As you might have noticed, things are changing right now, not only here at AEW, but everywhere. The pandemic finally eases up a little and we were able to start traveling across the country more and more. For this to successfully continue, we need a reliable crew that will prepare the events. Which is why you are here."
He paused, waiting for a reaction of you. It took you a few seconds before you could muster a weak, questioning 'okay'. Tony Khan chuckled before grinning at you.
"No need to be nervous, Y/N, this is good news for you. I have noticed you working meticulously and always ahead of time. Also, when I asked a few people who they thought deserved to be promoted, almost everybody mentioned your name. Your supervisor highly recommended you. So, if you are interested, you will officially become a part of the team surrounding myself. That means you will be part of organizing the events accompanying the live tapings such as meet and greets and interviews. This would require you working full time with AEW, so if this is a problem, I can understand. If you need time to think this through, feel free to come back to me next week. Oh, before I'll forget to mention it, this would be your salary in the beginning." He said before handing over a piece of paper.
You sat there, dumbfounded for a few moments and then glanced down at the number on the sheet. Holy crap. Now that would be a raise. You could quit your two other jobs and still make more money.
You wanted to stay professional, but a happy (and most likely dumb) grin spread across your face anyway. "This means I would travel anywhere AEW is holding events. And working full-time would be a pleasure. I honestly do not need a week to think about this. Where do I sign, Mr. Khan?"
"Tony."
"Sorry. Where do I sign, Tony?"
He called his assistant to bring in the documents, and after talking through them, you happily signed your new contract, thanking Tony about a hundred times, shaking his hand maybe a little too long when you left. You ran through the hallways, eager to find Cash to tell him the good news. You knew he would be somewhere near the locker rooms, he told you he'd be there when he had arrived. And truly so, he was standing in front of the door with Dax and Tully.
"Cash!" You yelled before you jumped at him and hugged him tightly. He wasn't prepared for such a rough interaction, so he tumbled a few steps back, but caught you safely anyways and wrapped his arms around your body.
"Hey sweetheart. You're in a fantastic mood. What happened? Or did you just miss me that much?" He asked as he put you down on your feet. In fact, Cash was irritated by your sudden emotional outburst; you both had talked about this some days ago when he had stayed at your place. He remembered very clearly that you asked him not to be overly touchy when you were at AEW - and that you would try the same. You wanted to keep your work environment 'clean of any form of affection that would put off other people around'. No need to be that annoying couple that everybody hated. He agreed, although he wouldn't have minded.
Before you answered his questions, you kissed him roughly and then turned to Dax, now putting the other half of FTR in a short but tight hug. You pressed a small kiss on his cheek, coloring him surprised, and even turned to Tully to hug him as well.
Then you turned back to Cash and waved your new contract in front of him. "I got promoted, baby! Starting next week, I'll be planning meet and greets and such. Tony Khan personally asked me! Can you believe that? I am now part of his little circle." You bounced on your feet while you explained your excitement. And it was contagious as the three men smiled brightly at you. They congratulated you and Dax even hugged you again.
"I am so proud of you, babygirl. You deserve that more than anyone." Cash said while putting his hand on your waist. The look on his face caused your heart to skip a beat. Never ever had anyone looked at you with such admiration. You might have deserved to get promoted, but you surely didn't deserve him.
You could feel yourself blushing at his words and touch, so you unneccessarily cleared your throat and took a step back from him.
"Well, I say that calls for a celebration! How about I invite you guys to dinner tonight?" Tully politely declined your offer, saying this was a celebration for the younger folks before dismissing himself. You pouted a bit before turning to Dax. "You're coming, right? Come on, don't leave me hanging!"
"Of course I'm coming, Y/N. I'm always down for celebrating. Maybe we'll have some Tequila again?"
"Oh hell no, Harwood! You won't get me drunk this time!" Both guys chuckled before Dax spoke again. "I didn't get you 'drunk'. You were a little tipsy at best. And a lot of fun." Cash laughed out loud at his friends comment which earned him a slap to his chest from you.
"Hey! You're my boyfriend! You're supposed to have my back, not laugh about your friend's mean jokes!" You acted like you were hurt, but enjoyed your little banter with these two.
"Well, as much as Iove to stand here and chat with my Top Guys, I need to find Emma and tell her the good news. I hope you don't mind her tagging along for dinner. If you do mind..." you trailed off before shrugging at the two. "I don't really care."
You turned to move, but Cash's arms pulled you close to him.
"What?! I don't get kissed goodbye?" He asked while you were flush against him.
You put your hands on his chest, feeling him pop his pecs for you, and moved your face agonizingly slow up to him until your lips were almost brushing his. He had closed his eyes, prepared to feel your lips touch him any moment. Instead he heard a smug 'nope' leaving your mouth before you wiggled out of his grip and skipped away, waving at the two men. Dax chuckled at you before turning to a visibly disappointed Cash.
