because when all the odds were conspiring against us
you stayed
in the midst of the universe's tedious efforts to tear us apart
you were still there
when it seemed like it was you and i against the world
you never left
which is what hurt the most
"i'll be forever by your side" you would say
maybe forever isnt such a long time after all
