Wind blew over as the sun was beginning to set. I hadn't eaten in two days and it was getting hard to talk to people without them thinking I was just another teenage druggie. Finding a bench by the edge of the town park, I sat down, hugging my backpack close. Shaking, I decided to ignore whoever just sat down beside me because right now I didn't have the energy. Big mistake.
"Found you." Snapping my head up, it was him. Just laughing at my astonished face. Whilst he was caught up in the laughter I took off running, swinging my bag round onto my back. Not looking back I dashed for an alleyway I spotted and sank to the ground pulling out my phone. It was very old and rarely worked but I dialed the number anyway. Inside I was begging for a response ad I held the device to my ear, listening to the dialing tone. My silent praying was distributed however when I was pressed back onto the wall forcefully. The shock caused me to drop the phone, staring into the mans grey eyes in complete terror. A smirk formed on his lips whilst he looked me up and down.
"No one's coming to save you now. Marie." How did he know my name? Taunting me with a cackle, I whimpered softly, imagining that this was the end. A soft whirring sound filled the air causing him to drop me. Grunting in annoyance, he ran off. Sat there confused it took a few seconds to realise someone was approaching.
"Marie?" It was her. Casting my eyes up, the doctor stood in front me. She actually came.
"My phone is broke, how did the call even work?" I asked myself before standing weakly. Quickly she walked over and held my forearms. Checking me over with just her eyes, a quiet sigh left her lips.
"Its getting late, why are you out here alone?" Opening my mouth to respond, I couldnt come up with a good excuse. Embarrassment and shame took over me as I lowered my head to stare at the ground.
"Do you want to come with me?" She must have took notice of the backpack and put the pieces together. If you looked at how much of a mess I was it wasn't hard to understand. Thinking that my only other option was sleeping outside,  I nod at her question. Picking my bag up from the floor, she swung it over her shoulder, ignoring my protest. Instead she began to lead me down the street. To my surprise we stopped at the same phone box from a week ago. The doctor opened the door and stepped inside much to my confusion.
"Come on in." She called from inside. So I went in. Blinking in shock, the door closed behind me as I gazed around in awe of how this place even existed.
"Am I hallucinating?" Laughing slightly, the doctor beamed at me whilst shaking her head.
"No darling. This is my ship." Ignoring the fact my face was now red, I walked over to her.
"Ship?"
"Yep. It's called a tardis. It stands for time and relative dimensions in space. It can take you anywhere and anywhen." She explained to me. Taking a minute to process this I bobbed my head seeming to understand. For some reason hearing the name of this place made me feel nauseous. There was no way this could be human. Or legal I guess.
"Are you working with the government?" Giving her a suspicious look, she chuckled and put her hands into her pockets.
"No. I'm an alien. Is that okay?" Instantly I nod, not being scared somehow.
"Yeah that's, that's quite cool. Can I sit down please?" My voice wavered slightly so she quickly brought me down the corridor and into what I think was a bedroom. For a minute she looked confused then sat me on the bed. The room smelt of old books and ink. Underneath me the sheets were a midnight blue, the bedframe was a dark oak. Scattered around the room were parchment with symbols scribbled onto them and books with pages marked. A dim lamp lit up the room just the right amount. Putting my bag by my feet, the doctor grabbed a device from her coat before buzzing me.
"You're starving,  you're exhausted. Rest now. Once you wake up you can have a good meal." She smiled, urging me to lay down on the bed. As soon as my head hit the fluffy pillow my whole body relaxed.
"Is this your bedroom?" I asked tiredly as she covered me up. Nodding at me, she stepped away heading for the door. Feeling safe, I must of fallen asleep before she even got chance to leave.

Waking up a few hours later, my head was killing me. Stumbling my way back to the console room, everything began to spin. Luckily before I could wall I felt the doctor catch me. Coming back to reality, she looked at me concerned.
"Sorry." I mumbled feeling bad that I was causing so much trouble.
"You're okay. Let's get you some food." She left me to sit on the steps then disappeared somewhere. Soft clicks and churning sounds could be heard. Since she said it was a ship, I'm guessing it was the sound of the engine. I found it comforting. My stomach began to sting from the amount of acid built up, caused by not eating. If I didn't get food soon I was definitely going to be sick. On cue the doctor came back in and handed me a plate. I took it thankfully and began to eat it slowly, not wanting to hurt my stomach.

"Wanna see where we are?" Tilting my head slightly, the doctor smiled mischievously and motioned towards the doors. Going over, I opened the doors and audibly gasped. Infront of me were thousands of shining starts, ripples of purple and blue in the cascading vastness of space. We were really here, really in space. Standing beside me, the doctor hummed at my astonished face.
"Its beautiful isn't it?" She said, gazing at me. I didnt change my focus, so amazed by the scene in front of me.
"Yeah. It's amazing. You get to see this everyday?" Honestly I was envious, getting to see such things so often. She was blessed.
"Whenever I want to. Seeing as you have nowhere to go, why don't you stay here with me?" Looking at her shocked, I began to chew on my lip.
"You barely know me. You'd just take me in?"
"Well why not?" Smiling, I nod and glanced back into the outside. The doctor went back over to the console,  leaving me to observe.
"How do you know i have no where to go?" Closing the door, I made my way over to where she was.
"I guessed. After my sonic told me that you were basically starving and sleep deprived. Plus, your hair is greasy and you have a packed bag." Reaching up, I touched my hair feeling self conscious. Sure enough, it wasn't in its best condition.
"Is there a shower?"

Coming back into her bedroom, I unzipped my bag and grabbed some fresh clothes. At the bottom of the bag laid a white box. Inside of it was the few things my parents left me so I took it everywhere with me. Honestly, I'd never looked through it fully. Taking my clothes, I went into the bathroom and took a much needed shower. The soap was honey scented which I absolutely loved. Stepping out, I dried off and got dressed. Looking into the mirror I sighed, brushing through my longish blonde hair. It was at such an awkward length. Sitting on the doctors bed, I got the box out and looked at it for a second before opening it. Inside there was a peice of folded paper yellowing with age. A really tiny Teddy bear, probably for a baby. And a velvet pouch containing many things. Looking inside the pouch, I dropped its contents onto the duvet. On top landed a golden pocket watch on a necklace chain. It was face down so I picked it up. Turning it over, I was surprised to see a circular pattern engraved onto its front. Realising they were the same as what was scribbled around in here, I flicked my eyes around then back to the watch. Maybe it was just a coincidence? After all, it's a circular pattern. Anyone could think of it. Putting everything back into my bag, I made my way down the corridor,  searching for the doctor. But, this place was like a maze and I got lost very easy. Groaning in frustration from walking so long, I opened the next door I came to. To my surprise, she was in there, sitting at a desk. Going over to her, I tapped her shoulder lightly.
"Hello Marie." She smiled at me,the book she was reading was using those symbols again.
"What do those circles mean?" I asked, genuinely interested. Making room for me next to her, the doctor began to point things out and explain.
"This is the language of my people, galifreyan. My home planet is called Galifrey. There isn't much of it left so anything I have from there I keep safe in here." Letting my eyes wonder over the page, I was fascinated by it all. Without either if us noticing, her arm slipping round my waist, holding me by her side so I didn't fall of the chair. Tracing over one of the symbols, the doctor explained a few vowels and basic things to know.
"Love?" Surprised, she looked at me.
"Wow, yes that does say love. You got that very fast." Smiling to myself proudly, I tried to figure out a few more word which seemed to make her very happy. Feeling sleepy, I blinked a few times trying to keep my eyes open. Stifling a laugh, she grabbed a different book pulled me into a more comfortable position.
"This is a good book. Let me read it to you?" Nodding, I allowed myself to relax into her hold as she began to read the story out. Her voice was so soothing that my head fell onto her shoulder and I was asleep in record time.
