Suddenly, the arrogant one spoke. I held my gaze on the arrogant one. Spit.it.out! What more do I have to prove that I hold the power here!

"Yes, they will expect us and for us to arrive at our house, Salzburg city,15 Prairie street." I was taken aback by her words, including her sister. I eyed her skeptically, her eyes were blank and stared right in front of me. Is she in a trance?

"Tell me your darkest secret."

"I didn't feel sad when my aunt died, she was a bitter, miserable hag, anyway." Her sister gasped.

Not an ounce of hesitation? She's in a trance! I... put a trance on her? I held my gaze on both of them.

"You two will never speak of this, you never saw me. You are not the nobleman's daughters; you are just simple village girls that live a simple village life. You are on your way to one and we'll live there for the rest of your days. Leaving all of your money and titles behind." Their eyes flashed a vibrant green, and they placed their money pouches down and walked off. I told the carriage man that I was Lara Carsten, the nobleman's daughter. Xavier released him looking at me oddly, the man stood up resumed his post helped us inside. "Incredible, I really can bewitch minds!"

"It would've been a lot easier to kill them."

"So, they can find their bodies? Besides, those nobles should get a taste of what it's like living under their shoes."

"Do you know how you did it?"

"No... but I bet I could do it again if I tried."

"Perhaps... either way, you've given yourself a new identity. Which is a good start, it won't be so easy for him to find us."

"Yes, and we've got money, titles, luxury awaits us!"

"It will make living more comfortable and bearable."

"You know I've never ridden a carriage."

"You came from one of those outskirts villages, didn't you?"

"It seems so, it would officially be a town by now." I rambled off.

"I see... Styria right?" He surprisingly knew? Styria isn't well known, or heard of.

"How'd you know?"

"Styria is frequently visited by the wolves, since they are known to hunt down mages and unveil them. Most villages don't go to the extent of Styria's enforcements. Last time we visited, there was a new area for the rich." I let out a long sigh. No more walking, no more woods. It's been ages since I've felt at peace and slept on a surface that's anything but the ground. Xavier's head sways gently from the side. Without even knowing it, I drift off into a peaceful slumber.

The carriage shakes, startling me and Xavier awake. My heart was startled and my body was now tense. Unable to return to sleep, I let out an aggravated sigh. My first carriage ride, I should be looking at the scenery and gaping at it. But I couldn't care less, I've already seen enough of the woods. The only thing that interests me is this carriage, which I've already gotten bored with. And there is no other way to pass the time but glance at scenery...

"It helps past the time when we talk."

"Does it, and even so, what would we talk about?" I rolled my eyes.

"Ourselves? You must have some questions about me and where I came from." I sighed.

"Alright, were you born there?"

"In the cavern with the wolves?" I nodded. He sighed.

"Contrary to most beliefs, no, I wasn't. Not all wolves are born in packs, some like humans, live in villages."

"That is until you turn?" He nodded again. "So you were forced to join a pack?"

"Yes... in a way... I couldn't live in the town when I was discovered. And it did me no better living amongst them, anyway."

"Why?"

"Why?" He asked ridiculously. "Just look at me, do I look like you're everyday citizen?" Ethan looked like him, dark brown hair, and a carmel skintone. did he face the same issues? "But you are, aren't you?"

"Yes." He grits. "I was born in the state of Austria, The Ottoman Empire and raised here!"

"Supernatural or not... humans still find a way to exile others? Even when they pose no harm? Why?"

"Who knows... the only foreign thing about me is my name."

"What country were your parents from?"

"Spain."

"So Latin origin, have I been saying your name wrong then?"

"Many people do." He shrugs, "And even if they knew it was wrong, they wouldn't care, anyway."

"So, how do you pronounce it?" He sighs.

"Shaveair (Sha-ve-air.)"

"Cha... vay.. ire?" He smiled and shook his head. That's the first time I've seen him smile? And it was at my expense!

"Your accent makes it difficult."

"I don't have an accent."

"Yes, you do the common one, the German one."

"I see... why did you leave the pack then? You were safe, weren't you?"

"I was foolish enough to think so, but it ended up being more of the same. Just hierarchy taking over and advantage of the less fortunate."

"For curiosity's sake, why were all the male wolves sent to guard me? It was like it was instructed specifically."

"Females are the most cherished and protected in a pack. They didn't want to risk anything to happen to them." Interesting... "My turn... you know I've seen many captive mages. The last one,

Already, in the second week, she was losing it. Yet you remain sane?"

"My mother..." I stifled a laugh. "She always prepared me for the worst in life. I guess I owe it to her..." I scoffed.

"She was a mage, also?" I nodded.

"A powerful one at that, she always told me to keep my mind in check and my emotions. I payed no mind to it, I believed it was fine to let your mind be free. Now I understand what she was trying to tell me."

"So you numbed your emotions and fear?" He said suspiciously.

"Well, yes, I guess, emotions and pain."

"Pain?"

"Well, my hunger, when I was starving myself."

"You can numb the pain?"

"Not for long, each day I had to apply the spell. But it was worth it."

"Just curious, but if you numb your emotions, does that mean your regard for feeling others' emotions is also numbed?"

"Not necessarily, I can detect it but not understand why they feel that way entirely."

"Your spell. How long does it lasts?"

"I... I don't know? I don't even I know if it can be broken? The only emotions however I can't suppress are fear, annoyance and anger."

"It doesn't bother you?"

"Well... I don't really know of other emotions I've felt? Nor saw that as useful, their all just tedious." I shrugged.
