As Hastú's research became more sophisticated, the uses of mycelium also became more diverse. The potentiality of its usage seemed limitless, it was a matter of imagination on what target object to mimic. Little by little his friends were starting to help Hastú. Well, not all friends participated in the study, there were friends who focused on making necessary objects using mycelium-derived materials, some just took care of things around, and of course some just roamed around doing not much work.
݀
That's how time passed and everyone was living in the forest without feeling any significant shortage. Nonetheless, there was something missing, something that everyone recognized - maybe except Hastú - but was reluctant to bring out. It was one of those who didn't participate in study nor work who finally broke this implicit consent.
"Surely there must be other lives besides us."
"There must be a real village somewhere"
"We do not belong here"

In fact, they were abundant with food, clothes and pretty much any kind of basic necessities. Furthermore, mycelium was now being used as shoes as well as containers to store food and water. It didn't seem like a crazy idea to leave the place for a period of time. Their lives were not necessarily constrained at where they were. Some friends insisted on taking a journey to seek for other lives, while others preferred to stay. The unclear fear of memories that couldn't be remembered was still strongly surrounding many of Hastú's friends.
2.
Hastú and his research helping friends noticed that mycelium grew interconnected.
A single cell pulls out a thread, it reaches out to connect to other cells and threads, and this connection widely spreads and continues indefinitely. There was no disconnection among this organism, there was no end of the growth of this organism. Every cell, along with the threads, was interconnected like a very dense spider web and the files of these webs as a result create an immensely large and wide web.
݀
It wasn't just a physical connection. Each cell was exchanging information through such connected threads. As soon as a single cell determines that there is no nutrient at its locating soil, that information is instantly transmitted to hundreds of millions of connected cells, urging them to turn their reproduction around. Hastú thought;
'If we put some signal at a cell here, like Morse code, it can travel through the wide web of mycelium to arrive at a cell far from here.'
'Information can be delivered from one to another in different locations, without any physical effort.'
݀
"This is an amazing discovery Hastú!"
"It is a different level of finding... it will open up many more opportunities!"
Research friends were stunned by this astonishing discovery. If previous usages of mycelium were more for surviving, this telecommunication function was something that could be a whole scene changer, friends thought. Hastú, however, looked rather calm and said:
"The direction in which mycelium extends is not random. There should be rules. We have to learn this mechanism."
3.
Daily necessities were sufficient, and long-distance communication became possible.
There was nothing that limited their boundaries anymore.
Positive hope swelled in the hearts of all of Hastú's friends.
݀
The friends who were going on an adventure were filled with anticipation rather than worry.
There was a pleasant atmosphere in the process of preparing to leave.
Researcher friends also pushed their study in mycelium network, and gradually came to know how to control the information delivery and receiving.
They became more confident in their research.
݀
Hastu was happy with the magnitude of this hope he created.
Before the friends go on an adventure, Hastú gathered them up and spoke:
"Never give up. You guys are capable enough to achieve your goals."
"Everything is under control, if you follow the instructions I gave you, there will be no problem."
The adventurers friends, who were greatly motivated by these words, shouted out their spirits and set out on the road proudly.
Hastú watched them leave for a moment and then went back to the lab.
