"It started when we were running away from somewhere" I spoke. My knees were up against the sofa, the golden flicker beam of light from the fire made the room a lot brighter.
"My sisters were called  Penny and Jenna. Penny was twelve and Jenna was twenty. We were close, so very close..." my eyes focused into the distance as memories flickered through my mind like a willow in the wisp.
Daryl looked up from his grimy hands and stared at me, his blue eyes were gleaming.
"I remember Madonna was playing loudly, maybe holiday? I'm not sure but we hit something and the car rolled over. I opened my eyes and saw my mum getting eaten by one of those things. I grabbed my backpack and guitar and managed to scramble out the car. My sisters were there, my little sister was crying and running around like a headless chicken. Jenna-being the brave solider like dad hoped she would be-pulled the thing of mum and killed it. Dad was gone I don't know were he landed he seemed to have  just disappeared. Jenna's boyfriend was in the car behind us, he grabbed us and we all ran..."
The crackle of the fire roared as I stopped to let my mind remember that day.
"Anyway we survived for a while, scavenging and surviving. We found a town, Terminus." Daryl's head snapped up and he clenched his hands when I said the name of the town.
"You know it?" My eyes snapped up to his and he nodded.
"They were nice at first, this one man in his thirties Troy Samson, he wasn't. He took a interest to my sister, Penny. I was protective at first but he was the teacher of Terminus so I had to relax. One night I found her running back to the house, naked crying. She told me Troy had...Troy had..." Tears stung my eyes but I refused to let them win, I had to say this.
"Used her. I went round with my bow and arrow and with Penny guns blazing. Stupid bastard kicked the shit out of me. He tried to, you know, do the same thing he did to Penny to me. He kicked Penny hard so she was crying in the corner and he had me. He had me pushed up against a wall and I can never forget his dark black eyes, I remember seeing my reflection in them; i saw  a scared little girl. I couldn't be like that...Penny threw herself at him and i managed to grab my bow and arrow from the ground and shoot him in the stomach..."I stopped for a few minutes to pick at the holes in my jeans.
"What happened then?" He mumbled, I was surprised at the fact that he was actually listening.
"I ran back to the house and emergency siren was wailing, we were screwed. Yet i managed to grab Jenna and her boyfriend and we all ran.
"We didn't stop running. We ran deep into the woods...and Penny got taken down by a biter. I remember her screaming, god I can never forget it. Jenna's boyfriend swooped her up in his arms and carried her until there was too much blood spurting from her arm. I remember the sound of crickets singing as we laid her down on the gravel road. She grabbed my hand and thanked me, told me to not forget the guitar she hid in the bank of a dried out river. But she wouldn't die. Jason, Jenna's boyfriend, wanted to shoot her. She was still alive Daryl and he wanted to do that...we attracted walker and Jason left and so did Jenna, leaving my sister and I together."
The memory came to mind, Penny's fading body in my arms tears streaming down my face.
"Don't leave us." I remember sobbing. Jenna took one look at me, her icy blue eyes watering before she ran and left with Jason.
"Penny just died. Like that. I remember her last struggling breath. A walker came behind me and bit me when i wasn't looking, here," I pulled down the shoulder of my top and show him where the walker had bitten me.
"I managed to stab it and there wasn't that much blood surprisingly coming from me. I had to leave Penny's body but I ran into the woods, to the lake where the guitar was and I fell asleep.
When i woke up everything was heightened, I felt more on edge. I could hear everything a mile away but my eyesight was still shit as normal. I don't know how many days had passed since i had fallen asleep. I stumbled my way through the forest until i got to a house and I remember being angry, so angry at Jenna and everyone else. I saw my reflection in a shard of glass and i saw what happened when i got angrier...That's when i realised I was different."
It felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulder. Daryl's eyes were still on me, his mouth was shut tight.
"I don't buy it..." he muttered before getting up and warming his hands.
"There is nothing to buy, it's the truth...trust me Daryl."
"You were the one that kidnapped me." he turned his back on me. His angel wings on his leather jacket shining brightly. He got up and paced back and forth in the hallway, i followed and lent against the doorframe.
"i saved your ass..." I hissed and he turned around, his muscular arms clenched and tensed with anger.
"There has to be a cure for this, maybe I'm immune to it."
"No cure." he growled and picked up his crossbow and headed towards the front door. I put my back on it and glared at him. He stepped unbelievably close and looked down at me.
"Get out my way bitch." he growled.
"No." I growled back my eyes flashing a putrid yellow, he stumbled back as if I had electrocuted him.
"You need to get me to Alexandria so I can kill Troy and head to Atlanta to create a vaccine." I told him and he didn't say anything. It was like he was socially awkward or some shit.
"No guy called Troy."
"He might of changed his name, I heard people say he was heading to Alexandria so I'm heading there too..."
We both stared at each other, neither of us willing to give in.
"No point going to Atlanta" he spoke in pain and I relaxed and slouched against the door while he walked away, his cross bow still held tightly in his hands.
"Why?"
"Bad people there in that hospital." he spoke in a saddened voice before heading to the couch. I headed to the kitchen and saw some vodka. Vodka can't go off right?
I picked it up and handed it to Daryl.
"Looks like you need it more." he nodded in appreciation and took a swig of it and so did I, making a face.
"Didn't think I would taste shit like this again..." I chucked and I saw Daryl for a split second laugh also.

We drank the whole vodka and were both not really sober.
"You remind me of someone." he played with the empty bottle.
"Who?" I asked my eyes fixing on his side profile: ski slope bode, piercing blue eyes, strong cheek bones.
"A girl called Beth. Sweet gal: strong, pretty, young. She had similar hair as yours, nice blonde-"
"What happened to her?"
"Shot, by a crazy bitch." he growled grabbing the bottle hard so the whites of his knuckles were visible.
"Sorry bout that..." I whispered before I picked up my guitar and began to strum it.
I began to play promises by Ben Howard. I felt Daryl eyes settle on my face.
Was he looking at my emerald eyes? Or maybe my horrible bumpy nose, or maybe my grubby face?
I finished and his eyes were still on mine, he looked emotional.
"You got nice eyes." I said and then immediately began to blush.
He smiled a little before grabbing a pillow behind me and handing it to me.
"Get some shut eyes." I headed over to the other sofa while Daryl got up and went onto the sofa behind him.
"Night Daryl.gleaming" I said getting comfy.
"Night Lily." i shut my eyes and dreamt.
