"Come on" I told myself as I breathed deeply praying to god that Daryl Dixon was downstairs and not outside.
I headed downstairs and I saw Penny. She was sitting on a chair in the kitchen.
"Hey poo." she spoke to me while crunching into some toast.
"Hey." I mumbled back while getting out some orange juice.
"You alright? You look distant?" She asked me and I snapped back into reality and I nodded.
"Yeah I'm great." I picked up my toast from the toaster and buttered it up before joining her at the table.
"Daryl went out by the way, probably to get squirrels." she spoke calmly, flicking the pages of her battered book. I cursed underneath my breath and bit into my burnt toast.
"Stupid dick." I crunched angrily into the toast again and she shrugged.
"Can I ask you a question?"
I woke up my ears and looked at Penny. Her baby blue eyes were looking bright and cute today. Yet her smile was small and fragile making me me feel slightly worried.
"Sure go ahead." I crossed my arms and listen. She adjusted herself in her seat and began looking at the palms of her hands and then me again.
"There are marks on Daryl's back, I saw them once, I didn't mean too but I'm worried he may of been scratched by a walker." I felt a lump emerge in my throat and i felt myself shake.
"I'm sure it's nothing."
"You mean you haven't seen it!" Her eyes widened as she leant back on her chair so it balanced on two legs. I shook my head slightly.
"You don't really look at your boyfriends back when you make out with him." I rolled my eyes and took a sip of my OJ.
"I'm just saying you should ask him that's all." She put her head back into her book, I shrugged and focused my gaze on my bitten down nails.
"It's probably from a motor bike accident." I spoke calmly while in reality I was panicking because if anything did happen to him, I couldn't imagine being able to even cope, so the thought drove me pure crazy.
"Look I'm not an expert on scars but they looked pretty new, like a day old or something." I began to panic more especially as it was Penny saying it and she knew how to wind me up.
The sound of the front door closing caught my attention. We both turned our heads towards Daryl who had squirrels slung over his back and dirt all over his outfit.
"What?" He grunted.
"We were just talking about those marks on your back."
"Penny!" I snapped and she looked sheepishly at me before looking down at her lap.
"You were what?" Daryl cocked his head locking his jaw,his skin went pale.
"Look were you scratched by a walker? Lily thought it was from a motorbike accident."
"Penny!" I snapped again slamming down my glass of OJ on the table. Daryl growled and seemed pissed as he said it to both of us.
"Why don't you two mind your god damn business." he snapped shooting an icy glare before heading up the stairs and the sound of our bedroom door slamming shut echoed.
"Probably a walker," Penny pouted and I clipped her around the ear and her face became red again.
"Keep your mouth in control." I scolded and got up from the chair and jogged up the stairs. I knocked on the closed door but there was no reply.

I walked in anyway and Daryl's back was facing me, the angel wings catching the light looking ceremonial.
"Hey." I shut the door and stayed standing feeling an invisible force field around him like before.
"Daryl, I'm sorry but Penny kind of freaked me out, have you been scratched by a walker?" I started to slowly move forwards towards him.
"Daryl please answer me?" I pleaded cracking my knuckles.
He shook his head and I caught the glimpse of his knife twirling in his rough hands.
"Okay, that's good." I sighed feeling a weight lift off me.
Silence filled the room again and I couldn't help but say
"What is it then?"
He slowly turned around, his sparkly blue eyes scanning my body in that silent manner of his.
He started to take off his leather jacket, his shaggy brown hair going all puffy as I stood there waiting.
"Daryl?" I whispered but he didn't reply.
Twirling my blond hair around my finger I felt my fast heart beating.
He took off his black jumper and I felt a gasp come out of me, I put my hand to my mouth as I stared at the scars. Red, pussy and deep. Like he had been whipped or some shit. How had I not noticed them ever before?
Daryl finally turned his head around to see my face and rolled his eyes and looked back to his fingers. I stayed still, my back was now against the door.
"Told you my dad was an asshole, you happy now?" His voice sounded raspy and I couldn't help but stare even more, who would do that to their own son, how sick was that man?
"Daryl I had no idea..." I couldn't form anymore words but instead I managed to walked over to his side.
"I'm a weak son of bitch, should of fought back." and that broke my heart as I put my hand around him and he stiffened up, my hand slipped down from his neck and was resting on his shoulder yet I felt the muscles tighten.
He pushed me off and I felt a pang in my heart as he headed to the window.
"You aren't weak, scars shows people who have managed to live, to survive you didn't lose, you fought by living." I whispered, my hand itching the back of my neck trying to get over the embarrassment of being rejected. I could tell he was obviously embarrassed about his scars which was sad. I walked over to him again and this time I wasn't going to back down.
"I love you Daryl, don't ever forget that, and I'm here for when you need me." I kissed his cheek ever so softly and as I turned away he grabbed my arm tightly. I looked into those deep blue eyes and he seemed so vulnerable. I wrapped my arms around his stomach and buried my face into his chest.
He hugged me tighter his muscular arms trapping me against him. I pulled back and looked at his eyes, he stroked my cheek softly and frowned.
"Anyway what were you doing out hunting those squirrels!" I pushed him back and crossed my arms and pouted at him and he smirked a little.
"Mans gotta eat."
"There's tons of food here!" I punched him lightly on the shoulder.
"Whatever." he shrugged and I brought my lips to his.
"Let's sit" I took his hand and took him to the side of the bed and snuggled up close to him. His heartbeat was steady and strong and his hand was stroking my hair in a steady rhythm while I shuttered.
"What ever happened in terminus?" I felt him stiffen and he cleared his throat.
"Bad shit."
"Did you kill everyone?"
"Yeah, why?" He brought me closer, I laid my head harder against his chest hearing the steady thump increasing a little from his heart.
"Terminus isn't too far away, I'm scared we are gonna get caughtI'm so scared..." I couldn't help but admit, he knew what happened in terminus, the rape and the murders.
"They ain't gonna get you." he growled and kissed me fiercely, his stubble brushing against my chin almost tickling as my fingers grazed against the lumps and bumps on his bare back.
"How did I not notice them before" I broke away and mumbled against his swollen from kissing lips.
"what?" He pulled back looking at me.
"Your scars how did I not notice them! I feel terrible, I'm your girlfriend I should of noticed them..."
"Nah don't worry about it, I'm glad you didn't notice them, don't make you terrible though okay Lily?" He stroked my cheek and I nodded and kissed against his strong lips. It lasted a little longer than I actually intended it to be and so when it was done I pulled back and smiled.
"Put your shirt back on Dixon we need to head to Washington."
