We ran to the concert, laughing for absolutely no reason. There wasn't many people there, as I had expected. Although, Ally and I stuck out incredibly compared to the turn up. The audience consisted mainly of teenage boys our age, with black hair and tattoos. I looked preppy whilst Ally looked like a China Doll. Amidst the metal crowd, a lot of people were staring at us.
It really frustrated me, I didn't have to dress like them to enjoy the band. Surprisingly, Jake's band was good. Ally didn't seem to notice the staring, she was nodding her head to the music playing through the speakers while Perfect Day were setting up.
I grabbed her hand and pulled her closer to the stage, we were standing at the back and I wanted a good view. I had to barge past most people because they were too busy giving us dirty looks to notice that we were walking past.
A loud, screechy feedback erupted from the microphone as Jake tried to grab everyone's attention.
"Uh, hey everyone! Thank you for joining us, um, here today. We're gonna play our first song now. It's a cover of, uh, Black Damask by Motionless In White."
He looked back uncertainly at his band members, who nodded encouragingly to him.
The music started, it was loud and heavy, completely drowning out any other noise in the area.
Automatically, I started jumping. This was one of my favourite songs and Motionless In White are one of my favourite bands. Ally stared at me, watching me for a few seconds, and started jumping as well.
Although you were guaranteed the best view at the front, you were also guaranteed to be pulled into the mosh pit at some point. I could feel pressure as people were starting to form the walls and be pulled or pushed in.
A blonde boy in a white vest top and a sweaty face was running around like a bull, colliding with everyone in the pit. People were still jumping around us, almost jumping on our feet and pushing into us. Ally looked frightened and there was a group of unconcerned jumpers getting closer and closer, it looked like they were going to trample all over her.
On instinct, I pulled her back to me. As soon as she moved, the group of jumpers moved into her space without even glancing at us. That was the one thing I hated about concerts, people were so inconsiderate about other people in the audience.
We stepped back again, quickly other people took our old place. I noticed we had entered the pit.
Ally grabbed my arm tight as she was whirled into the circle. Half of the moshers were running around clockwise, the other half were running around anti clockwise. We were on another song now, but I didn't recognise it. It was a heavy song, full of screaming and heavy drums. Whenever the drum hit at a certain beat, all the members of the mosh pit collided with each other.
Ally was following the crowd, with a panicked look on her face. I jumped in, trying to follow her and pull us out before the next collision. I was too late, she was about three people infront of me when the drums hit three times rapidly. A tall man of about twenty barged into Ally, pushing her to the ground.
I saw red.
I suddenly became very hot and full of rage. I pushed past the three people, who were stepping over Ally like she was dog shit or something. The man had moved on but I could see him not far infront of me. I charged to him, barging into the sweaty teenagers, ignoring all the indignant shouts and yells. He saw me coming and smiled, clearing thinking I was just going along with the music.
I raised my fist and punched him in the face. There was a crack, I could feel something smash as I punched him repeatedly in the nose. We fell over and rolled around on the ground as I drove my fists into his face one after the other. All I could feel was his nose crunching and his hands clenching my arms, trying to force me off him. Other people had stopped now, realising this wasn't just moshing. They were trying to pull me off him.
The music died down as Perfect Day realised what was happening.
"Hey! Woah! We don't mind moshing but we don't condone fights on this premises! Taylor? Is that you?"
I could hear security being called but I didn't care, in that moment, my focus was to hurt this guy.
Cool, delicate hands grabbed my arms. Recognising them, I looked up into Ally's eyes.
"Taylor, get off the man," her voice was cold and reserved.
