Overpowering Mist

It took a while for me to finally choke out what had happened. Allys already pulled together eyebrows were now almost touching with her concern. I took her up to my room and we sat on the bed in silence. She knew better than to ask me if I was alright. She rested her head on my shoulder and I sat perfectly still, listening to her breathes and trying to match mine with hers. Silent tears streaked down my face and onto Allys forehead, causing her to turn and wipe them away.

"Life sucks, huh?" She sighed, breaking the heavy silence. I swallowed a few times as I tried to get my breathing in check. I finally nodded in agreement. She jumped off the bed lightly and wandered around my small room, occasionally picking things up and turning them over in her delicate hands as she examined them. She strolled over to my wall full of posters and stared at them for a while.

"Nirvana huh?"

"Yeah, why?" Why were we discussing music at a time like this? I guessed she was just trying to distract me from the horrible, inevitable reality.

"I didn't pin you down for this type of music. Or any really."

"Yeah, I love Nirvana. Real shame about Kurt though. He didn't deserve to die." And we were back on the subject of death. So much for distraction.

"Yeah. Bullet to the head wasn't it?"

"Um, yeah" I answered, distracted. She sounded like she was skirting around a question.

"So, um.. How did your dad, er...die?" She asked me, awkwardness and sympathy mixing in her voice.

"Suspected suicide. His trophy wife came in late last night to find him swinging from the ceiling fan. Must have been suicide but the police are looking into it." I masked the pain I felt with indifference, I sounded like another person. Observing the scene instead of living in it. Better than sounding like a weak person though, dad always hated cowards.

"I'm really sorry Tay" She turned and walked towards me and I opened my arms wide. She sat on my knee and I wrapped my arms around her, she fit perfectly. We cuddled, she was warm and soft and comforting. She shifted around to face me and grabbed my face with both hands. My eyes widened in shock and my mouth was completely unprepared for the touch of her soft lips on mine. I responded by kissing her back, our lips fit perfectly together as if they were shaped this way for a reason, they melted together. All sorrow was forgotten in a flash as my mind was taken over in firey passion. I fell back and she leaned on top of me as her sweet taste filled my mouth and her flowery scent overpowered my nose like a mist, clouding my brain until nothing else mattered but this kiss.
