The First Text

I still couldn't believe what had happened that day. I mean, girls like Ally are hard to find and I fucking ran into the back of her car! She even forgave me. Thanked me even.

My phone buzzed, pulling me out of my thoughts. I unlocked it quickly to see I had a text.

Unknown number: Abott.

I frowned in confusion. The only people that had ever called me that were my maths teacher and Ally. But the possibility of either of them obtaining my number was unlikely. I had to make a quick guess and pick who I thought I was texting.

Me:Claire?

An instant reply.

UN: My car is fine, thanks for asking(;

Lucky guess.

Me: Is your car okay?(;

Claire: No, it's fucked. Meet me for coffee at Starbucks on Carriger Strt?

I smiled. She wanted to meet me! This day was getting better and better!

Me: K. Be there in 10

Another instant reply.

Claire: Make that 5

Me: A bit keen are we?(;

Claire: You know it(;

I pulled my brush through my unruly hair and sprinted up the street, since my car wouldn't run. Luckily my house wasn't far from Carriger Street. Even though I ran and I was 8 minutes tops, I spotted an already familiar splash of blue among the drab beige of the real world. She was wearing a short, lacy baby pink sundress. Like the kind that dolls wear. Thinking about it, she actually looked like a doll; short, skinny, beautiful with an almost unreal shade of blue in her hair.

"Abott! You're late!" She smiled and waved as she strolled towards me. I laughed and shrugged my shoulders.

"But it was fashionably late, right?" She rolled her eyes playfully and grabbed my arm, pulling me inside the coffee shop.

"Lets get some coffee and chat."

After ordering and extremely expensive frappe, we grabbed a table by a window over looking a park full of trees, with a big roller rink in the middle. We laughed as we watched couples cling to each other like vices and fall over every few seconds, like a baby deer walking for the first time. But then, things got serious. She asked me about my home life, my father and Lia and my mother. I naturally told her everything.

"All right then Claire, its you're turn."

She sighed deeply and for a moment her expression went expressionless, as if she were preparing herself for something.

"I guess I'll start from the beginning.."
