⚠️spoilers of Sanemi's background⚠️

Footsteps echoed throughout the forest. It was cold, way too cold for her liking and way colder than she remembered it to be two hours ago when it was only ten in the morning.

The smell of blood invaded her nostrils. Panicking, she started running faster. When the house came in sight, she noticed how the usually warm atmosphere around it had changed completely.

Two figures were standing in front of the house, she could hear them screaming at each other. Upon reaching the house, she realized the two figures were Shinazugawa Genya and Shinazugawa Sanemi.

"What happened?" she panted, worry written all over her face. She noticed the bloody smell that came from inside the house and saw a pool of blood through the opened door.

"My brother is a fucking murderer!" Genya cried before glaring at Sanemi. "What did you just call me!?" Sanemi screamed at him.

Genya left without saying another word before she turned to Sanemi. She saw tears pooling in his eyes as he watched his brother leave before looking at the house in front of him.

She stepped forward and hugged him tightly, though he didn't return it. She didn't ask again what had happened, she didn't want to push Sanemi into telling her.

As months and years passed, he became more distant, not only from her but also from his brother. Eventually, he didn't talk to either of them. And as even more time passed, he forgot about her entirely. However, she never forgot about him.

A few years later, she was sitting next to her adoptive father, Ubuyashiki Kagaya, waiting for the hashira meeting to begin. "My dear Y/N, why don't you welcome our cute hashira?" her father asked with his gentle voice.

She smiled at him before standing up, bowing her head to her father and leaving the room. She went to the place where the hashira meeting would take place.

"Y/N-san!" Tengen's loud voice boomed when he heard her footsteps approaching. She smiled at him. "Hello, Tengen-sama." she said, making Tengen blush slightly and roll his eyes.

She had once heard his wives, or girlfriends back then, call him Tengen-sama and she noticed how much he loved when they called him that. So, to tease him, she started calling him Tengen-sama as well.

"Kyojuro." she opened her arms as her best friend engulfed her in a hug. After greeting Himejima Gyomei, Kocho Kanae and Kocho Shinobu, she went to stand beside Tengen and Kyojuro again.

She saw a male with white hair with his back turned to them standing a few feet away from them. "A new hashira?" she mumbled to herself.

Tengen was the first one to notice Oyakata-sama approaching, hence why he was the first one to kneel in front of him. Y/N followed suit, as well as the other hashira. The only one still standing was the white haired male, as Y/N noticed.

"Ah, hello, my cute swordsmen. I'm pleased to see all of you in good shape and healthy. Now, first of all, I would like to introduce a new hashira. Our wind hashira, Shinazugawa Sanemi." he said before turning to Sanemi. Her eyes widened slightly at his name.

The pillars turned to their new fellow hashira and started frowning. Sanemi scowled at Oyakata-sama. He didn't seem to be happy about something.

"It makes me so mad to see someone
smiling when others are suffering. Someone who doesn't get their hands dirty and has no risk to his life, just issuing orders from above with an unconcerned look on his face. Well, aren't you something?" Sanemi said, narrowing his eyes at Oyakata-sama.

"Shinazugawa-san, I believe you should think about the way you behave." Kyojuro stated angrily. Y/N had never seen her best friend this angry at someone. He'd always been enthusiastic and friendly to anyone.
