Take the gun right out the safe, put it up against my head and blow my brains 'cuz I'm paranoid.

Emotions. What a weird concept. At least, to him it was weird. Even when he used to be a human, he never felt emotions. The cult he grew up in wasn't really an emotional one.

Well, it was emotional for the ones that came to him to beg for forgiveness, praise him or ask him a favor. And he cried when they cried- not because their stories made him sad, but rather because he pitied them.

Up until this day, he never once felt a single emotion. Not grief, love, hate, affection, anger. Not once. But he definitely did notice a change in his behavior.

Was it because of the realization of how many people he'd killed? Surely not. It was probably because of all the hateful comments that were thrown towards him.

They had never really bothered him until a month ago. For some reason, the other demons of the twelve kizuki had made a mutual agreement that they would bully him the best they could - at least, that's what he thought happened.

It started off with Akaza - not that Akaza was ever polite to him anyway, but he did notice the hateful comments had increased. In the past, Akaza would chop off his head when he annoyed him, knowing it would grow back.

Now, he looked at him with such hateful eyes and disgust, it was like Akaza thought that he was Satan himself. He knew it wasn't because Akaza hated everything that was weak - after all, he was more powerful than Akaza.

But what had caused Akaza and the other kizuki to become so hateful all of a sudden? Probably because they realized that he had become the master's favorite demon.

Yes, Muzan still preferred Kokushibo, but after all, Kokushibo was rarely around, while he was in the master's presence every other day. He did annoy Muzan from time to time, but, beside Kokushibo, he was the one that did their given jobs the best.

Akaza hated how every time, one of the lower moons died, and the upper moons made fun of them, Muzan would tell them that they could laugh about them when they achieved what Douma had achieved.

If Akaza hadn't decided against hurting women, he knew he could be upper moon two instead of him now, and that made him furious.

Perhaps, all he did was let out his bottled up anger - and sadly, Douma was the target of his anger. "Maybe, if you were stronger, you could beat Kokushibo-dono. If I wanted to, I surely could." was one of the things Akaza said.

That was the first comment that ever made him react. Weak? Him? He had never felt weak in his entire life, neither as a human, nor a demon.

So why did it bother him all of a sudden? Probably because the lower ranked of the twelve kizuki started making fun of him as well. Did they really have no respect for him?

One evening, he came back to the Infinity Fortress, defeated - it was the first time in decades that he hadn't done his job properly. Muzan was worried immediately - what had caused the third strongest demon to exist to fail?

And that's when Douma broke down - to Muzan's surprise. After he'd told Muzan what happened - a fight between him and one of the Hashira, the Snake Hashira, where the Hashira laughed at him and called him weak, causing Douma to loose concentration because it reminded him of all the hateful comments and almost dying - Muzan immediately called the six lower moons for a meeting and decapitated all of them except Enmu, who'd proved himself to be useful.

Furthermore, he decapitated all of the remaining upper moons except Kokushibo, knowing their heads would grow back. Akaza was stunned by his master's actions - did Douma really mean that much to the demon Lord?

Apparently, he did. After the decapitation incident, no one dared throwing hateful comments towards Douma, scared their master would decapitate them for good this time.

Douma appreciated his master's actions - he hadn't expected Muzan to actually care for one of the demons except Kokushibo - and after everything went back to normal, he was able to complete all of his missions again - thanks to Muzan.
