Running around the corner at the store, and going blindly into an aisle, I collided with a small body.  As the two of us crashed to the floor, I blinked as dizziness swarmed me.

"Sorry," I said without looking as I slowly got up.

"It's okay," said the woman, and while her voice sounded familiar, I couldn't exactly place it.  When I glanced up, I realized it was Jessica, the veterinarian I had taken Edgar to.

"Oh, hey," I said, smiling at her.  "Jessica, right?"

"Yeah," she replied, grinning at me.  "That's me.  Great to see you again, Jonah.  How's Edgar?"

"The little demon has been wonderful, thank you for asking," I told her as I picked up my bag off the floor.  "Although, apparently right now he isn't."

"Is that what's got you running in such a hurry?" she asked me, curious eyes fixed on my face.

"Yeah.  Grayson called and said Edgar was on a rampage.  Not sure exactly what he means, but if Edgar is upset, everyone is going to be miserable."

"Sounds like a pretty good reason."

"Yeah," I mumbled heading to the door.  "So I really need to go."  I paused.  "Wait.  You handled Edgar in a way I have never seen nor been able to do.  Would you be willing to come with me and help me?  I have a feeling I'll need it."

"Really?" she asked, her eyes widening.  "I get to see him again?"

"Just..." I started, taking her wrist in my hand and nearly dragging her along with me.  "Follow me."

I sped off in my car, Jessica following me close behind, and reached my house in a little under ten minutes.  If Edgar was in Code Red mode, as I so lovingly called it, shit was going to hit the fan.

Possibly literally.

Don't laugh; I've seen it happen, and let me tell you, not a pretty sight.  And it's really hard to clean up too.  Kennedy and I never really got that stain off the ceiling.

Parking my car and running to the door in a whirlwind, I didn't wait for Jessica to catch up to me as I slammed the front door open, bursting inside.  Grayson met me by the door as I ran in, putting his hands around my arms to steady me as I tried to breathe again.

"What..." I heaved in air.  "...Happened?"

"He just went crazy," Grayson explained, a pained look on his face.  "So far he's gotten food all over the kitchen and has worked his way to destroying the living room, one ugly throw pillow at a time.  At least now I have an excuse to redecorate."

"As much as my cat is a lovely excuse for anything bad," I said, glaring at Grayson, "now is not the time.  Unless you want this catastrophe to continue, we need to stop him.  Do you have any idea what got him so worked up?"

"No," he stressed.  "I came in from my run and pet him on the head and he just spazzed out!  It's like he hates me or something."

"Whatever," I said, dragging Jessica behind me once more as I took her into the living room, getting view of Edgar's damage.

"You're sure this was all caused by one cat?"

"I'm surprised it isn't worse, to be honest.  This is like a level three, at the most."

"How many levels are there?"

"Seven."  She didn't reply to that.

Jessica and I stood in a shocked, disturbed awe as we took in the scene.  Pillows were scattered all over, the couch was nearly destroyed, and Edgar was now chewing on Grayson's favorite recliner.  It didn't look too bad, which meant he must have just started on it.
