As you all know, I felt completely, utterly awful about the crazy-long span I had between updates, so in order to thank you, I'm posting another chapter that I literally just finished a few minutes ago. I can't promise that this will happen all the time, but I do hope to post as often as I can. thank you guys so much for sticking with me!!! Hope you enjoy. This chapter has a bit more drama... 0.0
Also, it hasn't been edited, so excuse any errors!

P.S. The pic of the girl is kinda how I imagine Kennedy.
We stayed at my parents' house with Allie for a total of four days. Our last day, I had pretty much stayed in the living room with Grayson all day. He had put Netflix on the TV and I tried to catch up on some work I needed to do. I knew that when I got home, my mother would probably use up all available time, and I wanted to get a head start. Luckily, I didn't have much.
On our way home from my childhood home, Grayson and I stopped at a rest stop to stretch our legs. Just our human legs, not our wolfy ones. There were too many people around for the resulting nudity. And the risk of Shifters being exposed as well, I guess.
Taking a couple of dollars from my wallet in the car, I gave Grayson a kiss on the cheek and walked to the vending machine to get a few more snacks for the remaining drive. As I was looking at all the unhealthy goodies, I heard a cough from behind me.
"Jonah?"
Recognizing the voice, I turned around, my eyebrows raising as I did. Seeing a head of fluffy, white-blonde hair, pale skin, a neatly pressed shirt and khakis, I knew who he was immediately.
"Dillman?" I questioned. He had such an unfortunate name. It was a wonder he didn't go by his middle name, Robert.
"What are you doing here?" he asked me, his eyes widening in something akin to shock, his cheeks darkening to a murky pink shade as he stared at me. "I thought you moved when your aunt died? I'm sorry, that was blunt of me. I always seem to say something wrong."
I laughed a little, uncomfortable. "It's okay. I came back to visit my family. We're leaving to go back home now. What are you doing here? Coming back from somewhere?"
He ignored my question. Not rudely, just caught up in something else. "We?"
"Yeah," another voice said, and an arm slid around my shoulders, a hand gripping lightly at the back of my neck, its weight and warmth both comforting and invigorating. Grayson had never really been possessive of me. Protective, yes, especially with Kade, but never outright possessive in front of someone else. I wasn't really sure how to react to it. As I leaned into him, he spoke again. "Us."
"Oh," Dillman said, and this time it was his turn for his eyebrows to rise. "Who are you?"
"Jonah's boyfriend," Grayson responded, his tone polite, but I could feel some tension in his body. I elbowed him in the side, a slight movement that I knew Dillman wouldn't notice. Grayson let out an inaudible sigh - I only noticed it because I was up against him - and held out his hand. "Grayson Kires, nice to meet you."
"Dillman Peachtree, same," Dillman said to Grayson as he shook his hand.
Yeah, he had a really unfortunate name.
"So what are you doing here, Dillman?" I asked him. "Are you coming back from somewhere?"
He shook himself out of his thoughts. "Uh, yeah. Me and Cheryl are on our way home from a conference I had to go to. I thought it would be fun if she came with."
