The new kid

~Chapter 8~

The picture is her high school.

Its been two months and Dr. Rose, my dad's doctor, said my dad has about 1 more week to go. My mom has been calling the school and telling them I'm staying longer. I haven't said one word to my mom except for answering her questions with a 'yes' or 'no' or a shrug. But she doesn't say anything about it cause she's going through the same thing and understands. I was now heading to my dad's hospital room as some tears fell down. I haven't went to my dad's room once without crying once.

"Hey daddy. How are you doing?" I ask as some more tears come down. I always try to keep the tears in until I leave the room but I never can.

"I'm fine sweetie. Please don't cry today. I want you to go get your mom right now okay?" He asks but I can see a little hint of hurt in his eyes but I go anyways.

"Okay," I walk out of the room and see my mom sitting on the bench with her head in her hands. "Mom? Dad wants us both in the room."

"Okay, come on bug," I cringe at that nickname as I see my mom smiling for the first time in awhile knowing that I don't like that name. As we walk into the room I see my dad laying in bed knowing that he's tired and wants to make this quick so he can sleep.

"Okay good. I have you both here. I know these past few months have been stressful to both of you and I wanted to say I'm sorry for doing this to you," he pauses shedding a few tears making me cry more before he continues. "I want you guys to know that I love you both so damn much and I'm so so so so sorry for all of this. Please forgive me," He looks down and bursts into tears.

"Daddy what are you talking about?? Are you ok?? Do you need me to call the doctors for help??" I question panicking about to push the 'help' button before he stops me.

"Vanessa. I want you and your mom to know that I love you both so much," he says pulling us into a big hug.

"I love you too dad," I cry out holding him like it was the last time.

"I love you too baby," my mom says doing crying as well.

"I'll miss you guys soo much," he says a little below a whisper before closing his eyes.

"DADDY?!?! Open your eyes! What's going on?" I ask my mom that last part.

"Baby, your dad is gone," she say calmly.

"How can you be so f*cking calm when your husband and my dad just f*cking died?!?!?!?!" I scream at her as tears pour down my face.

"I'm trying to be strong for you baby. Don't scream at me," she says as tears fall down her face.

I just cry into my dad's chest not noticing that there was a loud beeping sound before it was just a loud long noise that went off until nurses and doctors came rushing in as trying to save my dad who is already gone.

"I'm sorry for your loss," my dad's doctor says as he walks out.

"And we are finally home," my mom sighs. Its going to be quiet in here for a while.

"Yeah. Home sweet home," I shake my head, walking up to my room and shutting the door before laying down on my bed crying myself to sleep forgetting I have school tomorrow.

My mom just dropped me off in the front of the school. I notice people staring as I walk to the office getting an admit slip, which is basically a slip that my teachers have to sign and I have to turn in at the end of the day.

"I'm sorry for you loss Vanessa," is all I got during 1-3 period.

Its finally lunch time and all I want to do is hug Anna. But we are best friends so it isn't that weird.

"Hey Nessa," Anna whispers/shouts running over to me and pulling me into a tight hug making me shed some tears from missing her so much.

"Hi Anna. I missed you soo much!" I say hugging her tighter than before.

As we pull away from the hug and start walking to the table so I can hug everyone I spot Matt and Melody holding hands.

"I'm guessing they are still a thing?" I ask knowing the answer.

"Yup. They are now the schools best couple going on three months," she says rolling her eyes and sitting down.

"Hey guys," I smile shyly at all of them looking down as more tears fall down. I am so emotional these days.

"Hi," they all say getting up and puling me into a big group hug with everyone. I look at all of them and past them and see almost everyone looking at our like 14 people group hug that obviously caused a scene.

Once we all parted and sit down I see Luke and smile really big. Running over to him before he sits down, I jump into his arms squeezing the life out of him as he laughs and puts his head into my neck.

"I missed you sooooo much," Luke whisper so only I can hear but his head was still set in my neck.

"I missed you too Lukey," I kissed his cheek before we sit down and start talking to everyone.

I think I'm starting to like Luke, and not just in the friends way. And honestly I'm a little scared of that.

"I need to talk to you Nessa..... Privately," Luke says getting up again and grabbing my hand, pulling him and I into the hall.

"Yeah? What's up Luke?" I say still holding his hand liking it....A lot.

"I think.....
