I walked up to Clayton. "Hey bro, whats up?" i asked. he looked at me with a kind of broken face. "not much dave, not much." i looked at him with a concerned look, "why are you not talkative?" i asked. he just looked at me for a long time, "i watched her die... i just sat there and watched... i didnt do anything... i dont deserve to be here.." he finally said.

"Who?" i asked softly "her name was Jessie... we were going to get married today... but yesterday the locusts decided to cancel the wedding..." he was about to break out in tears. "it wasnt your fault, i dont want you to blame yourself for it." "but i just watched..." "what could you have done? besides would you rather her be here, or where she is now?" "i guess you're right." he said "so stop mopping around? ok?" He just shook his head and i walked away.

I walked up to the other two and said "he did find someone, and she was KIA." they just stood silent "so be sensitive around him, its what he needs." They gave an understanding nod and walked off in separate directions.

-8 years later- / The Beginning of Gears Of War 1

I was sleeping when an alarm went off. "All Gears, report to the helipads, we are dusting off in 30 minutes, get geared up." I sat up and started to walk down the middle looking for my brothers. in this kind of event you chose who your squad is or who you get deployed with. I looked at my brothers bunks, they were still sleeping. they always were heavy sleepers. i went over to each of them and shook them until they woke up.

"We are going on an emergency deployment, so lets get suited up." They all got up and drug their feet over to their lockers and took out their gear. They suited up and grabbed a Lancer. we all ran to a raven. "we have room for 3 more, one of you needs to go over to Delta!" the Pilot yelled over the raven's engines. "I'll go!" Anthony said. "see you on the other side" the three of us yelled while he walked over to Delta.

They were going on a mission to retrieve Marcus Fenix from the prison, or at least that is what Dominic Santiago was going to do while Lt. Mihn and Anthony went in search of the resonator, hopefully making this was easier on everyone. Benjamin, Clayton, and I jumped onto Kilo's old Raven. it was now Zulu squad. "whose the highest rank?" i heard one of them say "im a Lieutenant," I yelled over the ravens engines. "well the Lt. D. Carmine, you're in charge." "please, just call me Dave." i said. everyone nodded. we were going to be on that raven for a while. might as well get to know my (in total, all 3 Carmines) 6 man squad.

I got to talking with the shorter of the three first. "whats your name soldier?" he looked up. he was almost comical being 5'3" in all of his gear. "i am Pvt. Rios." he said "nice to meet you, im guessing by your excess gear, you're the medic?" "yes sir i am, you go down, im patching you up." he explained. I better not get on his bad side, he might leave a piece of shrapnel in my arm.

I talked to the biggest one next. "what do you bench? 340?" i asked. he chuckled, "i can go up to 400," he exclaimed. "thats a lot of muscle... so you're our heavy weapons man, right?" i asked. "yup," he said "names Ryan, Ryan Soprano." so he was Italian under that helmet. wouldn't have guessed.

The last guy just sat there, gun in hand, looking out the side of the raven. "so, who are..." i said as the raven got hit. "What the fuck was that?!" i yelled "Some kind of flying ball thing..." The pilot said as he leaned closer to the front. as he stopped, one hit the propellers and we went down. Why do the Carmines always have bad luck? Answer the Carmines question.
