Forgoten Hero

Morning came, it was 0600 hours and we were all suited up and already in the ravens to the insuration point. "do they really expect the main emergence hole to be completely vacant? because it being vacant is the only way that the COG is going to do this. if it's not, we will be stuck in the biggest shit-hole in the world." yelled Ryan over the Raven's engines "i don't know," i explained "i hope it's all clear, for this squads sake." Rios interrupted "Dont worry sir, we are Omega, we will not fall." i looked at him with a smirk "you're damn right we won't."

The raven arrived an..... nothing. there were no locusts or even kryll. this was a sight to be seen. the biggest emergence hole in the world, and no locusts are here to guard it. its like they want this to happen. we walked down into the tunnels where we seen holding containers. we almost ignored them but we heard banging on one of the doors. we walked over to it with our guns raised. i reached my hand for the edge of the door and slowly opened the door. We were all in shock. it was one if the biggest war heroes in COG history, and a former part of Omega.

We all just stood there in silence as we seen Corporal Victor Keith. i always thought that he was a rumor, all that he did for the COG, how he was able to single handedly fend off 150 or so UIR soldiers just seemed... i dont know... impossible.

He fell to his hands and knees after a moment. I crouched down to help him up, he was still in all of his armor... but he was considered KIA the day they went into these tunnels with Fenix.... "sir how Long have you been down here?" i asked him. "since all this shit began, when Fenix just had to investigate her "Bug Experiment"." he said quietly. i lifted him up and put his arm over my shoulder "well we are going to get you out of here." i said.

We made it out side... still no locusts... "Raven 2-4, in need of medi-vac for one Victor Keith." "Corporal Keith?!? He's alive!?!" "yes, we need to get him out of here ASAP." "uhm.... well of course ill be there, why wouldn't i want to meat this man? dont answer that." the raven landed and i put him in. i was about to pound the side of the raven, the signal that they can lift off. but locusts started to come out of the wood works. all of them started to open fire on us, and the raven "WE HAVE TO GO! NOW!" the raven pilot yelled we all jumped in and the pilot took off. Rios was hit, not to badly, but hit none the less.

He was going to be fine, hell, he was patching himself up. might be small be he is as tough as the kryll after dark. i asked him. so what happened on the day that you killed 150 UIR soldiers?" i asked. he looked at me blankly "sorry, too soon?...... im Dave Carmine, Lt. Dave Carmine, Omega Squad, 1st Battalion." i said "this is omega? he asked "yup every bit of it" i explained

"well, i have the time to tell you then. i was only a private back then. all of us, meaning omega, had been sent on a scouting run. what we didnt know is that we had gotten lucky and missed all the patrols and made it to the direct center of the UIR FOB. we were found out and they started to chase us. one man was shot and fell as soon as we started running. we were almost to the exit and another fell. there was just me and Pvt.Johnson." wow Johnson was there when he did this... wow "Johnson split away and ran right, he hopped they would all follow him. but only a few did. i had nearly 150 UIR soldiers chasing me... i know seems like a lot, but the UIR didnt like leaving things unfinished. i turned the corner and planted a frag on the wall every 7 feet or so, 4 times. when one would go off it would take 5 or more with iits then got into cover and began to spray all of them with my lancer. at that time we just had bayonets on our guns. every time i would reload one would grow the balls to run up the stairs at me. so i just sat my pistol on the ground and every time i would reload, i had to pick it up and fire 1 shot... head shot every time. then i only had 1 bullet left in my pistol. i got up and aimed it as the last guy. he raised his rifle. i pulled the trigger and the bullet hit him strait between the eyes." He said, already finished. "wowwow thats all i can say... wow." he was a real war hero.... why was he ever forgotten?
