"Come on, Lena! You want a dog, the shelter is right there. Can we go inside now?"
"Yeah, yeah... We can go in." O took a few steps towards the door of the shelter, but Yelena didn't make a move.
"Lena, are you okay? We don't have to do this today-"
"Yes I do. I want a dog... I just want to find one and not be let down when we
leave." O sighed, walking back towards her sister and putting her hands on
Yelena's shoulders."Yelena Belova. We are going to go into that shelter, and meet every single dog in there. And if we don't find the perfect dog for you, we will go to another shelter. And we will go to however many shelters we have to for you to find your dog. Understand?" Yelena gave O a small smile and hugged her.
"Thank you. Now, let's go." Hand in hand, the twins made their way through the shelter door to see all of the animals inside. They met all the dogs in their kennels and gave each one plenty of pets. After that they made their way outside to see the dogs back there. The moment Yelena saw the American Akita chewing on a bone, keeping it away from all of the dogs that tried to get it, she immediately walked over, leaving Osleya behind. O simply smiled at her sister and the puppy's somehow smiley face. Yelena caught one of the volunteer's attention and told them that this was the one. While they went inside to start filling out the paperwork, O continued looking around the yard. All of the animals were happy. Some of the animals were playing, some were sunbathing and... and one dog was just laying in the corner, all alone. Osleya slowly walked through all of the running puppies, petting a few that came up to her, before finally reaching the lone pitbull in the corner. She crouched downand the dog immediately started growling at her. After a couple of minutes, of O just sitting there, he stopped. O extended her hand towards the dog. The pitbull sniffed it carefully before turning away from her. O carefully started to pet him and the puppy slowly started leaning into her hand.
"You're just a little love bug, aren't you?" The dog rolled over onto it's back and allowed O to give him a belly rub, making her smile even more than before.
"Not a lot of people come over and say hi to him. Him being a pitbull and all." A volunteer walked over to O. O only spared her a glance before returning her attention to the puppy. "He came from a pretty messed up situation too. So those that do turn him down."
"Oh really? Where did he come from?" O asked, the puppy finally standing up and coming closer to her.
"A drug dealer situation. He was breed to be an attack dog and he was for a while until he was shot and left... to... well..."
"...that fucker-" The volunteer let out a little laugh as O payed attention to the puppy, playing with his ears.
"Would you like to adopt him?"
"...I can?"
"Well he is out here with the rest of the dogs." The volunteer gave her a smile, before it slowly faded. "The shelter is getting overpacked and soon we're going to have to give some of the older dogs or dogs that don't get adopted upto other places... places that will-"
"Will put them down..." She put two and two together, kissing the puppies head.
"Give me the paper work."
The twins sat next to each other as they filled out the paperwork, the dogs sitting at their feet on leashes. They payed what was due and then turned inthe paper work with a smile, before picking up their dogs' leashes.
"So, what did you name your dog?"
"Fanny. I saw one of Nat's fake ID's with the name and I thought it was fitting." Yelena said with a smile, the dogs ahead of them and playing together. "And what did you call yours?"
"This cuddlebug is Bullet."
