Nico must've drifted off for a few minutes, because the last thing he remembered was the sound of his boyfriend washing dishes, and the next thing he knew Percy's soft footsteps padded toward him from the kitchen.
Opening his eyes, he could see Percy carrying a tray, and on it was a glass of water, napkin, spoon, and a bowl of tomato soup; Nico's favorite. The boy on the couch sat up some, making room for the other. Sitting the tray over Nico's lap, Percy took a seat by his feet, biting into the sandwich in his hand.
Nico smiled at the brilliance of the boy sitting next to him. Finally, a meal he might actually be able to finish. He took a spoonful, blowing on it a bit and swallowing it down.
"Mmm," he said.
"Did I make it right? I wasn't sure how much milk you like—"
"Perfect, Percy. It's perfect."
Percy grinned at him. "Good."
Surprising himself, Nico finished every bit of his soup, bringing another grin to his boyfriend's face. Taking the bowl from him, Percy pecked the smaller on the lips and took it into the kitchen.
As he returned, a sudden wave of dizziness overtook the boy, causing him to close his eyes and lean his head back into the sofa, a grimace creeping onto his face.
"Nico?" Percy asked, walking over to him. "You okay?"
Nico nodded. "Think I need to lay down..."
Without hesitation, Percy lifted him, and then they were moving upstairs. The smaller boy let out a grunt as he was laid down, and Percy sat on the edge of the bed, brushing hair out of his eyes.
"Will you be okay for a few minutes, Ghost King?" he asked gently. "Just long enough for me to take a shower?"
"Yeah," he said, the dizziness starting to subside. "I'm okay."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Just yell if you need anything, okay?"
"Okay."
Kissing his cheek, Percy stood up, moving to turn the hallway light on before crossing the room again and moving into the adjoining bathroom. He undressed and showered quickly, not wanting to leave the other alone longer than he needed to.
Gods, it had been a long day. And terrifying, at that. If anything happened to Nico, Percy would die. Or, rather, he wouldn't be able to go on living. He just wouldn't. Without him, he wouldn't have much of anything to live for, anyway.
He shook his head to clear the thoughts. Nico wasn't going anywhere. He wasn't going to let that happen. Everything would be okay. He shut off the tap, stepping out of the tub and drying himself off. He twisted the towel around his waist, tossing his laundry into the hamper and flipping off the light switch before stepping out and shutting the door.
I'm sorry it's so short! But, better than nothing, right? I'm busy with my paternal person at the moment, so it's the best I could do. Longer one tomorrow? Maybe? Hopefully? I think.
