Never (A Percico Fanfiction)

Not Again

For a week after that, life went on as normal for the couple. Percy would stress, and Nico would kiss and cuddle the feelings out of him. Nico would fidget uncomfortably, staring down at the food he knew he couldn't finish, and Percy would take it from him lovingly. Everything was okay, because they both had each other.

The hate note went by all but forgotten.

The following Saturday, the boys ran errands. After they'd finished, the two stopped for a quick lunch on their way home. Percy stepped toward the counter and paid, and Nico headed out the door to wait for him. As he leaned against the brick wall, he closed his eyes and tilted his head up, soaking in the warm sunlight.

He did this for only a second, though, before he felt himself being grabbed and pulled around the nearest corner. Roughly, he was pushed to the ground by his attacker, a man in a black ski mask, a black turtle-neck sweater, and blue jeans. Nico let out a shout of terror, realizing that he'd been pulled into a terribly shadowy alleyway. The boy whimpered, fearing more the shadows than the other man, as his attacker moved toward him.

"So scared?" the assailant joked, voice rough. "Aww, look at the little fag, cowering."

Need to fight, Nico thought. But the shadows were starting to pull on him; to tug him downward. He clenched his eyes shut, curling into a fetal position, rocking back and forth. Need to stay. Stay with Percy. Can't go back. Can't leave again. Not again.

It was these thoughts running through his head as he felt the first blow to his head, sending him sprawling. He yelled, but the man just kept going. Head, stomach, chest. All of it was impacted. Nothing was okay. But Nico couldn't focus on any of that right now. He just had to focus on the shadows and not drowning in them.

Anybody for a cliffhanger? Let me just say I'M SORRY I HAD TO I LOVE YOU GUYS PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!
