Ophelia pulled at the hem of her burgundy dress, acutely aware of how short it had become sitting in the stadium seating. She could feel Lucius' eyes on her from beside Draco, who separated the pair. It irked her, unnerved her.
"That will be me someday," Draco boasted proudly, with a smug smile as he leaned forward out of his seat to watch the match. The trio watched the players whizz passed on their brooms from their hospitality box.
"Certainly not," Lucius sneered, his distaste could be heard even over the roaring crowd. "You will aim higher than a quidditch player son, Malfoys are better than that."
"Yes, father," Draco nodded with a defeated sigh, he sat back slowly, suddenly the boy wasn't so interested in the game anymore, his eyes had lost the spark of excitement they had just moments ago.
"I think you'd make an excellent quidditch captain, Draco," Ophelia said boldly.
"Really?" The boy asked, turning to his governess. Ophelia could feel Lucius' eyes on her in a different way now, they bore into her disapprovingly.
"Of course, you have so much raw natural talent, plus, I believe anybody can follow their dreams, if they're willing to work hard for it." Ophelia smiled down at the boy, who smiled back with a small unsure upturn to the side of his mouth.
"No son of mine will be a quidditch captain," Lucius scoffed. "Tell me Miss Oakham, was it your dream to be a governess?"
"A professor actually," Ophelia admitted, her eyes flashed sideways towards Lucius.
"Did you not work hard enough for it?" Lucius almost mocked as his black leather gloved hand tightened around the snake head of his cane.
"On the contrary, I'm still working on it, Mr Malfoy,"
"Very good," Lucius cooed. "Tell me, where it is you want to teach?"
"Hogwarts, of course." Ophelia answered. Draco jumped out of his seat as two players collided on their brooms, he ran to the railing where he cheered and hollered, leaving no barrier between the two bickering adults.
"Subject?" Lucius quizzed.
"Herbology."
Lucius snorted at her answer, shaking his head lightly.
"Do you look down upon herbology sir?" Ophelia asked, furrowing her brows she faced the blonde-haired man.
"Herbology has its uses, but I wouldn't consider it one of the... more important subjects." Lucius explained in his velvety voice.
"What would you consider a... more important subject?" Ophelia asked, cocking an eyebrow.
"Oh, you know, charms, defense against the dark arts, transfiguration... potions. The ones that take real skill," Lucius smirked, he elegantly moved across into Draco's seat, his cane for a second pressed against Ophelia's bare leg, the cold metal of the snake causing goosebumps to spread over her thighs. "The potions master at Hogwarts, Severus Snape, is a close personal friend of mine."
"And you yourself are a governor, you seem to be well connected at the school." Ophelia exhaled, trying to ignore Lucius' looming presence over her.
"I am, I have certain... powers, and influences, I dare say, there could be a job for a talented Herbology professor in a few years' time..." Lucius purred as he watched the match, ignoring Ophelia's bewildered look.
