"You what!?" screamed an ant castle guard.
"We left the queens behind," said Kabbu flatly.
Vi leaned over and whispered to Kabbu. "Maybe this isn't the best approach."
"No," Kabbu whispered back. "There's no point in denying the truth at a time like this."
"Why would you—?" started the guard.
Kabbu didn't let him finish the sentence. "The giant showed up to defiant root. Me and my team went to investigate while the queens stayed back. When we made it to the giant, debris was falling out of the sky. If we didn't leave at that very moment, we would've been killed for sure. The queens are safe, though. They stayed back
"The queens are alright!?" asked the guard eagerly.
"To my knowledge, they're completely fine."
"Well, why didn't you start with that!?" the guard shouted. "Cmon, men! We're going to Defiant Root!"
Kabbu, Leif, Vi, and Mothiva watched as ant soldiers quickly filed into a single file line and marched out the gate.
"Huh," Vi said, impressed.
"Now what?" asked Mothiva.
"I guess, since we're back home, we can just go relax," Leif said.
"Uh uh," Kabbu protested. "No way. We have to go to defiant root to look for the queens."
"But the soldiers—" Vi started.
"But the soldiers nothing. We left the queens, so we gotta go look for them."
The group groaned and followed Kabbu to the tunnels.
While they were walking down the tunnel to Defiant Root, Vi came to Kabbu and asked, "So, when are we gonna look for my sister?"
"We're gonna get to it, I swear," Kabbu responded. "This is just really important. We gotta get the queens back, first and foremost. I promise we'll go look for the hive right after this. And this isn't gonna take very long, I know where I left the queens."
"Right," Vi said. "Thanks."
The walk to Defiant Root only took a couple of minutes, but the whole way, Mothiva chatted up everyone's ears.
"Geez, I'm so tired. I could take a nap here. On the dirty floor! Ugh. Geez and I'm hungry too. Don't you guys have any honey drops? What!? You don't have any honey drops? What kind of explorers are you? Hmm? You used them to build a queen-rescuing plane? That's dumb. You should've saved them. For me to eat! Cuz I'm hungry! And—"
"Oh my god!" Vi shouted. "Will you shut the fuck up!?"
Mothiva gasped. "How dare you say that to me!? Can't you tell I'm mourning!?"
"Yeah, I get that," Vi said, calming down a little. "But that isn't an excuse to be a huge bitch!"
"Bitch!? My noble servant is dead!"
"Yeah? My sister's probably dead right now!"
Kabbu turned around and looked at the girls' spat with concern.
"At least your sister has a chance of being alive. I know that Zasp got stomped on!"
"You did not just say that!" Vi launched herself off the ground straight into Mothiva.
"Hey! What the fuck!?"
Vi and Mothiva slapped and clawed at each other, screaming the foulest of obscenities.
