Bug Fables: Return of the Giants

Chapter 10

A mound of dirt started stirring around, alerting an on-guard Zaryant. She walked over to the dirt to see what was going on.

Kabbu, Leif, Mothiva, and Vi popped out of the whole. Zaryant jumped back in surprise.

"Team Snakemouth!" shouted Zaryant. "I thought you guys...died."

"I'm glad to say we didn't," Kabbu responded. "Sorry for our absence."

"It's alright," said Zaryant. "You guys never happened to find the queens, did you?"

"I'm afraid not," said Leif. "We were hoping that you had."

"We looked as hard as we could, really," said Zaryant. "We just couldn't find them anywhere.

"I'm glad to see the Ant Kingdom's alright," said Vi. "I thought for sure this place was gonna be stepped on."

"We're not stepped on," said Zaryant, "but I also wouldn't say we're doing 'alright'."

"What's going on?" asked Mothiva.

Zaryant shook her head. "Hundreds of idiots gathered together and left town."

"Left town!?" shouted Mothiva. "While the giants still running around!? God, they are idiots!"

"Where did they go?" asked Kabbu.

"I have no clue," replied Zaryant.

"Gosh, what a horrible idea," said Kabbu.

"Why don't we get out of the caves," suggested Leif.

The group did. They walked out of the castle to look around at the kingdom. It was a sad sight to see. The stores, the arcade, the hotels... Everything was abandoned.

"Jesus," said Vi. "It's a ghost town."

"I haven't seen anyone besides Zaryant," pointed out Leif.

"Don't speak too soon," said Mothiva. "Look who's over there!"

It was Maki and Kina. Vi gasped and ran over to them. "Hey guys!"

"Team Snakemouth," said Maki. "Long time no see."

"Really," said Kabbu. "I haven't seen you guys since the initial attack by the Giant. I'm glad to see you're OK." Kabbu noticed someone was missing. "Hey, where's Yin?"

"Yin was killed in the first giant attack," said Maki.

"Oh, gosh," said Kabbu. "That's horrible. I'm so sorry."

"Yeah," said Kina. She crossed her arms. "If I ever see that giant myself...oh I'm gonna...RAGH!"

"We're working on the Giant situation right now," Kabbu said. "I promise we'll get that monster out of Bugaria."

"I know you will, Team Snakemouth," said Maki. "Also, if you ever need any help with anything involving the Giant, just let us know."

"Right, thank you," said Kabbu. "Alright, we're gonna go now. Best of luck."

The group walked back towards the entrance of Bugaria that led to the outskirts.

"Shit," said Vi. "I can't believe Yin died."

"She was so young, too," Leif remarked.

"We went off track when the queens went missing," said Vi. "Now that we know...y'know they're gone, we have to refocus."

"We don't know that the queens are gone..." mumbled Kabbu.

"Kabbu, c'mon," said Vi. "Their gone. They've been missing for a long time. The chances of them being alive are...close to zero—as much as I hate to say it. The only thing we can do now is try to stop the giant. Avenge them...and stuff."
