The emeralds have always been his favorite. He loved to tap his jeweled earrings, the gem clinking under his claws. The emerald earrings have shined just the way he liked when they sat in their spot, amongst the sweet smelling flowers and cool breeze. They got them for him a few years back, when money was tight and it was all they could afford. Sure, the design was simple and it was cheap at best, but he had cherished it the minute he opened the present on his new year.
Their hands shook as they signed off on the last letter declaring their departure from the hellscape that was Monsuma. The candle had long since burnt out, but it hadn't mattered as their sight stretched farther in the dark. The letters scraped onto the paper spoke in coded wording only meant for their dearest friend to receive and understand. They could only hope he would follow in his steps and escape this place that tortured them both so. The remnants of giggles and choked laughter was the cause of the solemn smile on their face. Perhaps this was all for the best.
The building fell apart around them, and they swore to come back. But only to get their beloved. He deserved to get out too. Perhaps they could actually chose what they wanted for once. That sounded absolutely amazing.
The night was only a cloak of safety for as long as it was there, so they set off as soon as they spoke of their goodbye. The training engraved of stealth helped immensely, allowing them to escape with little mistake. It feels wrong to be happy about a part of being a child soldier, but in this case it was imperative they had such training else their head be taken from them prematurely.
The sirens came quicker than they believed they would. Their pace quickening to as fast as they could physically go. The sound of the others searching was what spurred them on, freedom at the tip of their fingers. The awaiting vehicle was silently started and ready to go at a moments notice. The winter cold was biting but was ineffective against the immovable soldier.
Hoping into the car, they take off North in search of warmer climate. The bag of necessities they brought with them jostled in the back seat. Metal against metal and plastic against glass. Blood dripped from where they tore out their tracker.
The sirens grew quieter the farther away they got from the building. They became paranoid at the quietness that followed. They would not be like the others, it was bad enough they destroyed most of the facility, getting caught would for certain be a painful and slow death.
The roads stretched on for hours, the nearest town that hadn't been taken over by Monsuma was several miles away, it spelled a long and torturous drive. Sighing, they kept their eyes on the area around themself. It was better to be prepared than not, not being ready would be the cause of their doom and they would not let that happen.
Ideas of an identity that would be only theirs, something unique both them and him thought of . Words spoken into the darkest nights, scheming's of kids with no where to go and with only a dream of getting out.
They must stay alive long enough to see him out of that hell. They must, they would do anything for him. Anything.
"Hang in there Toms, I'll get you out no matter what." Ranboo has failed only a few things in his life. This will not be one of them.

He was still stuck in the comfy nest come morning, Phil had stayed vigilant throughout the night. Making sure none of them escaped. Which, rude. Perhaps it was close to lunch? He couldn't wait to get home, and soon, being away from his haunting was driving him up the wall. It had been too long.
Coos and low croons were what he had originally awoken to, being a light sleeper and all. He almost accidentally stabbed Wilbur in the process of his awakening. The pen in his pocket was more lethal than it should be, he supposes.
