----- October 17th, 2014 - Throne Room -----

"We thank you, Guardians, for putting your life on the line. We could not risk the lives of our own Sovereign citizens."

High Priestess Ayesha sits in her throne.

Her chambermaids and other Sovereigns are spread throughout her luxurious Throne Room, all of whom shine a dazzling gold.

Ayesha continues, "Every citizen is born exactly as designed by the community, impeccable, both physically and mentally. We control the DNA of our progeny, germinating them in birthing pods."

Peter grins, "I guess I prefer making people the old-fashioned way."

Gamora rolls her eyes at that.

Y/N's face contorts in disgust as he glances over at Peter.

"Well...  perhaps someday you could give me a history lesson in the archaic ways of our ancestors.. For academic purposes," the Priestess tells him.

"I would be honored. Yes, in the name of research.. I think that could be.. Pretty uh," Peter starts before noticing Gamora staring at him, "Pretty repulsive.. I'm, uh, not into that kind of casual--"

"Oh, please," Gamora interrupts before saying to to the Priestess, "Your people promised something in exchange for our services. Bring it and we shall gladly be on our way."

The Priestess merely lifts a finger.

Two soldiers emerge with a woman in a hood and cloak, her wrists bound by shackles. They shove her to her knees and yank back her hood, revealing...

Nebula.

Her clothes are tattered. Her hand is now just a low-tech metal claw. She glares at Gamora. Gamora glares at her.

Peter looks from one to the other, feeling the tension, "...Family reunion, yayyy.."

"I understand she is your sister?," the Priestess asks Gamora.

"She's worth no more to me than the bounty due for her on Xandar," Gamora replies as she roughly pulls Nebula up to her feet.

The Priestess stands, pulling her head out from what looks like a crown that's attached to the throne, "Our soldiers apprehended her attempting to steal the batteries. Do with her as you please."

Gamora doesn't reply, and just shoves Nebula forwards and towards the door. Y/N looks back at them and lowers Groot to the floor before motioning him to follow after them.

Groot scurries along behind them.

"Thank you, High Priestess Ayesha," Peter says, about to turn to leave.

"What is your heritage, Mr. Quill?," The Priestess asks, stopping him.

Peter turns back, very uncomfortable with the question, "My mother's from Earth."

"And your father?"

"....He ain't from Missouri," he jokes, "..That's all I know."

The Priestess stares at him as if she's eaten something foul, "I see it within you, an unorthodox genealogy. A hybrid that seems particularly... reckless."

Peter tries to not let that effect him and changes the subject, "What about Y/N?"

Y/N glances over at him. Really wishing he could smack him right now.

"...What about him?," The Priestess asks, glancing towards Y/N then back to Peter.

"Well, if my 'genealogy' is reckless, his must be through the roof."
