I spoke to her about the importance of prayer because of what she was going through and she's now becoming well vested with the things of God.
"Viv...yeees...do you have times of prayer on your own?...I do sometimes but to be honest not regularly, I mean it's not constant...okay you'll have to schedule a time that you will never miss not that when you're free at this time you pray and on a particular day you aren't free at that same time. You have to choose a time that you know you're almost always free and stick to it...okay, I have never thought of it like that though... it's good I'm here to point it out to you, God asked us to pray because he planned to answer so even if you haven't seen the answer materialized yet, you should keep pressing on till you receive a note of victory. Then you know it's done and that it's only a matter of time before it manifests in the physical... that's deep, thank you...yeah, my pleasure" we were still in the garden when two elderly people were walking towards us with Roland leading the way. I informed Vivian since she hadn't started making use of her eyes yet.
"I think they're my parents...okay, I'm sure..." they got to where we were seated and the woman reached out to Vivian immediately so I made way for her. "Hey bro...yeah Roland, you good?...yes I am, you?... I'm alive...I can see that, sorry we sprang up on both of you like this...that's fine, I figured that they wanted to see their daughter immediately they heard what happened... you're right, that's why I didn't tell them yesterday otherwise you would have seen them at midnight...hahaha_ I'm sure I would have...let me introduce you to them...erhmm okay...scared to meet the in-laws?😉...stop playing jokes with me...hahaha, come on_Aunty?...yes Roland...meet Greg, Vivian's very good friend...okay, nice to meet you Greg...same here ma'am...are you the man in her life now?...Auntyyyy...whaaat? I'm just asking, he looks like he could pass the test better than that man she married...okay, so that's my Uncle...nice to meet you Sir...same here son, pardon my wife, she gets overly excited sometimes...oh please, it's fine...do pass by our place sometime for a chit-chat...yes Sir".
Roland and I excused them and sat somewhere else in the garden waiting for them to have their time with their daughter
"So Greg, I've been meaning to ask you something...okay, go ahead...what are your intentions towards my sister? Sorry for asking but I'm sure you know she's the only child and well I'm like the only brother she has, I don't want to see her being hurt...I understand your concerns and I knew you would ask...okay, then that makes it easy...not really, I wasn't expecting you to ask now but can I be really honest with you?... that's what I want...okay, I really like Vivian, I would want us to be more than friends, but with her, I don't want to rush, I want to take my time and build our friendship some more. Then again, there's this feeling of fear that I'm still dealing with concerning step mums and the notion people have about they maltreating their step children...I know that...yeah so I know that if God says I can go ahead with her, I know my son won't have to go through that because "God said"_ I'm not one to play around with people's feelings and with regards to Vivian, I want to be intentional about whatever will happen in our relationship and not just dwell on probabilities and chances, have I answered you?...yes, you've really gone the extra mile in your explanation and I'm convinced that you're a good man therefore no matter what comes out of your friendship with my cousin, I know it would be equally good...thank you... you're welcome, I think they're ready to go, can you keep her company while I drop off her parents?...sure, take your time" they bade us farewell and thanked me for staying with her. I took her inside and helped her settle in bed
"Thank you so much Greg... what for?...for being here, I really appreciate it...it's my pleasure...so what do you think about my parents?...they're receptive...yeah they are, I realized you excused us...yes please...were you talking to Roland?...yeah we wanted to give you ample time with your parents...oo ok, I hope Roland didn't give you an interview...how did you know that?... so I'm right, I know my cousin...hahaha, I'm sure you do. How are you feeling now?... I feel much better but not comfortable with the bandages on my eyes...I know, it would be off soon and you can see everything around you...it has made me realize how the life of someone blind from birth is...but you won't remain there...of course".
Vivian's POV
Greg stayed with me till later that night when Roland had to literally drag him out to go home and be with his son. The doctor told us that the bandages would be taken off the following day and Greg promised to come with Jayden, I hadn't seen him after the accident and I missed him. In fact, I had not seen anyone, just felt their presence, I was so expectant to see. I prayed to God and expected to see after the bandage is taken off, just as Greg taught me. I knew He was listening and answered me.
I made Roland help me get ready since I was expecting quite a full room, my parents were also coming. Few hours later the doctor and about 2 nurses walked in to begin the process. Apart from Roland, everyone else I was expecting wasn't in yet but we asked him to commence. I felt anxious but tried to calm my nerves when bandage after bandage was being taken off, my eyes begun to feel lighter until the last...
