Yunno stood side by side with the god, Apollo. He stayed in this form that didn't make them feel so tiny compared to the other gods. They couldn't say the same about the gods, however. They are huge, all sitting in their incredibly designed thrones. They all were around a table that made the room feel like a giant conference room. It made them feel intimated, but a voice deep down reassured them that they were safe there with the gods and should definitely welcome their help.
" So who is your godly parent?" the man in the center beside a woman spoke first.
Given how bright his eyes were, they assumed he was Zeus. They all looked so different than what they imagined, or maybe it was just because they were literally right here in front of them. They stuck their hands into their pockets, only to remove them a minute later. They crossed their arms over their chest, even tucked their hands under their arms, but everything they did with their hands still felt too awkward. They had no idea what to do with their hands. One hand settled on playing with the ruby around their neck. It had been a gift from their mother for Christmas. A family heirloom. It hung on a simple golden chain, though they had tried to replace it with a silver one several times since silver would've looked better, the chain always seemed to break. The golden one never broke.
" He claims to not even be a demi-god," Apollo answered for them. The use of the pronoun made them flinch. It had been years since they had been called that.
" Lies!" the goddess, Hera, shouted. " How dare he lie to the gods!" she continued to yell until Zeus placed a hand in front of her to silence her shouting.
" Let's give him a chance to explain," Athena, at least they were pretty sure she's Athena, spoke up. She looked just as beautiful as the goddess who sat beside Zeus. However, Hera was now glaring down at Yunno angrily, so now they were just scared of her.
" A boy? The kid looks more like a girl," a puzzled Poseidon spoke up.
The gods at the table stared at the confused god, who paid no attention to their staring. He looked too confused to do so. Yunno could practically see the gods internally facepalming. Aries looked close to strangling the poor man.
" I'm non-binary," They managed to squeak out to help the poor sea god in his confusion.
The gods all collectively grumbled out apologies. To no one's surprise, they did not receive one from Hera. They simply shrugged it off. They were thankful that they did not keep the topic for very long, however, Apollo seemed the most upset over misgendering them.
" So? Answer us?" Zeus basically shouted at them.
The raised voice made them flinch. They had to fight every urge in their body telling them to run or cry, or even both. It wasn't easy, especially since all the anxiety and hostility from the gods was piling up too much on them. For the first time in several years, they felt like they were slipping. It was so strange, but it was something they needed to avoid at all costs. If the gods barely could understand other gendered concepts, regression would not end well.
" I don't know," they admitted, voice cracking unconsciously as they spoke. " Last I remember I fell asleep reading. Then I woke up falling from the sky and Apollo saved me," they told them truthfully.
Apollo beamed happily at being added to the story in such a heroic way. All the gods fell silent at the explanation. They all seemed to silently be asking themselves if anyone was planning something and failed to share with the class. However, everyone seemed just plain confused at the news, like they couldn't even figure it out themselves. Yunno fell silent along with the gods, fidgeting with the ruby of the necklace. Zeus seemed to stare at what they were doing with their hands, however, they could tell he was just thinking. They searched through their brain, trying to piece the memories together. Finally, they managed to remember what they had been reading before they had fallen asleep.
" Who's Percy Jackson?" they asked, though random, it would answer several things for them.
" My son, why?" Poseiden, reasonably, spoke up first.
" An Annoying boy," Aries commented, to no one's surprise.
" My daughter, Annabeth's, idiot boyfriend. Unfortunately," Athena huffed out.
" Unfortunately!? That's some of my best work!" Aphrodite shouted at the goddess from across the table. The only reason they could tell it was the goddess of love, is how much she shifted under their gaze. Yunno is so open to types, not picky at all, that it made it difficult for the goddess to appear as a specific person or look for their eyes.
Yunno smiled and laughed, gaining the attention of the gods. Thankfully, it stopped any more bickering from happening. It was a light-hearted moment that they needed. It also helped them understand what was happening, though they didn't believe it even still. It still felt so impossible.
" Mortal, why do you ask about the boy?" Zeus finally spoke up, having enough of the playful banter. They squeaked in response to the question.
" I- um, I don't think I'm from this world," they told the gods truthfully.
They stared and stared. It felt like so much time had gone by. They were all thinking, trying to process it. Some gods, like Athena, nodded after some time. They seemed to understand and agree with the statement. However, Hera looked angrier with each passing second. The goddess stood up and slammed her hands on the table. Unfortunately, it was the last trigger for the other to go into little space. They fell back onto their butt and stared at her in fear, even shock.
