Rachel Weisz as the woman (name will be revealed in the future chapters)
*~*~*
A Black SUV swerved hard right and drove quickly into the woods. The headlights were turned off so that no one could spot them. The woman was in her early 30s, with her dark curls pulled up in a ponytail, drove the car with her bloodshot eyes frantically scanning her surroundings for potential danger.
Her heart was beating loudly in her chest as she could still hear the snarls and growls faintly far away.
Suddenly, she accidentally drove over a huge rock which shook the entire vehicle.
Soft groans were heard in the back seat and a little girl, barely 7 years old, sat up rubbing her eyes awake.
"Mommy?" She called out confused.
"Shh Sorry Honey... Just go back to sleep." The woman said softly as she turned to her for a second. Once she was sure the little girl was alright, she turned back to drive ahead.
But the little girl was wide awake now. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and looked around and noticed she was in their car. But how did she get here? She wondered. The last thing she remembered was that she was playing in her parent's bedroom with her Momo. She widened her eyes in realization and looked around again, only to pout when she couldn't find her precious Momo.
Nonetheless, she squeezed her little frame through the narrow slit between the seats and flopped down in the passenger seat.
"What's going on? Where are we going?" she asked, turning to her mom.
The woman kept her eyes straight on the road as her fingers tapped nervously on top of the wheel. She didn't dare to answer for a minute. And what could she tell her? She couldn't tell her the truth. "Mommy?" The little girl's sweet voice brought her back from her thoughts. "To Brook's house," she lied as she glanced in the back through the rear view mirror to see if anyone was following them. They barely just passed their pack border a couple of minutes ago, she just prayed they'll be okay.
"Where's Daddy and Ri?" Rosy asked her again. But the woman didn't know either. She hadn't seen both her mate nor her oldest anywhere when the chaos broke out. But she hoped they were okay, alive and safe somewhere..."Aren't they coming with us?" Her daughter's question again brought her back from her thoughts.
"No. They're home Rosy, they're not coming." She lied as her eyes started to get glossy when she knew what would inevitably happen. Rosy looked down to her hands and fiddled with them. She realized her Mom was upset for some reason and that she might get angry if she asked her where Momo was too. Suddenly feeling bored out of her mind, Rosy mindlessly started to press the variety of buttons in the front and switched on the Radio accidentally.
Loud blaring noise erupted which startled them both, but her mom scrambled to turn it off quickly during which the car came to a screeching halt.
"Rosy!!!" She shouted. "Why can't you stay still for a single minute?"
"But Mommy I-"
"Enough Rosaline. Keep quiet and sit still. You do not understand what's going on!" Her fear got the best of her anger even though she hated to scold her children.
Rosy zipped shut when her mom called her by her full name. But she didn't understand why she was so upset. But only then did little Rosy notice that Mommy's cheeks were dampened. She wasn't too little to know what that meant.
"Mommy, were you crying?" She asked worriedly, knowing something was wrong.
Before she could reply, a subtle rustle in the dead quiet forest perked up her ears. She turned and looked out of her window.
"Mom?" Rosy called out again to gain her attention but her mom swiftly clamped down on her mouth. Rosy eyes started to turn glossy, but she kept quiet even though she was terribly scared.
When the woman looked out of her window at first, there was nothing. It was eerie and quiet. But she could have sworn she heard something. She turned away thinking she was just paranoid. But that terrible chilly feeling urged her to look again into the night.
And she did.
She turned back to the same spot, only to find two glowing red orbs staring back into her soul which was followed by it's menacing growl.
Shit! Not him!
She quickly scrambled in her seat to start the car. She turned up the engine and drove away quickly without wasting another minute.
They had been seen. They had been caught
"Mom, what is going on?" Rosy asked again, her eyes close to tears. She heard the loud growl as well and was now even more terrified.
But this time the woman was too busy to try and drive further away from him that she didn't hear her.
"Mom, tell me what's going on!? You're scaring me!!!" Rosy screamed out of her lungs.
"Wear the seatbelt!!!" She shouted back back at her as she pulled the seatbelt for her and clicked it in. She knew things could get ugly, but she wanted Rosy to be spared from their mess.
It was their fault and theirs alone.
She tried to contact her mate through their bond one last time, but couldn't. He had blocked their mind link for the last three hours.
'Please please please' she begged and prayed for the Moon Goddess.
But low and behold, the black beast stood fearlessly in the middle of the road, blocking their way out.
He had caught his prey.
The woman widened her eyes and Rosy started to scream as they both spotted the huge black wolf ahead. The woman swerved hard to the left in panic and fear.
The car toppled and crashed into the deep and darker parts of the woods,
Never to be seen again.
