"Yo! Katherine, table four needs you." The big busty blond in plaid called from the floor.

"I'll be there in a sec, hang on."

"Alright, meet me in my office after your shift, I'd like to speak to you." Cathleen said, with a nod in my direction as she passed by me.

"Should I be worried!" I called after her.

"Not at all." She smirked.

Right cause smirks like that alleviate all worries.

However I didn't let it get to me all that much, I would always tell myself I've been through worse and could get through anything else that came my way.

I made my way to table four plastering on my fake smile that I  used whenever I was on shift here. I didn't have much to smile about these days so plastic just had to be the way to go.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen. Welcome to the Olympiad, what can I get you today?" I said as I acknowledged each of the four people at the table. It seemed as if they were in the middle of a double date if had to guess correctly.

"Well, we'd like four of the triple cheese and beef burgers, and as for the sides can I have two salads and two chips plus four cokes." One of the more beefier of the guys gave their orders and looked in confirmation towards his companions, they all nodded in agreement. I'm guessing the the two more slender of the four were the salad eaters, however I don't know what difference that would make if you were having burgers with those salads, perhaps they liked pretending they were more healthy or maybe they just liked salads with their burgers.

"Sure, no problem, your order will be ready in the next 20 mins. Please browse through our dessert menu's while you wait." I flashed another plastic smile their way and headed back to the kitchen to drop off their order.

..............

After an 8 hour shift I finally clocked out, threw my apron off with all the intent and purpose of rushing out of the Olympiad as if the hounds of hell were on my tail. Picking up my bag and donning my studded leather jacket, I made my way towards the back.

Am I forgetting something?

Shrugging it off I continued my way to the back entrance blissfully humming one of those catchy show tunes that's been running my head for the day. Just as I touched the handle bar to push forward my name echoed the corridor in an almost ominous calm and steady tone.

"Katherine!"

Turning around to my big, busty blond best friend, I grinned and responded.

"Cathy, to what do I owe the pleasure?" She raised one eyebrow as if to ask 'Really?'

"I don't know if you've forgotten but I asked to see you after work, were you really just going to leave before popping into my office?"

"Oh... Right, I'm really sorry, I completely forgot, you're right! Am I forgiven?" She rolled her eyes and grinned back at me.

"Obviously, just get your ass in there I have something really important to tell you."

...............

"Ok Cath, what's this about?"

Cathleen sat on the other side of her desk, staring intently at me as if deciding how to word what she was going to tell me. I let my eyes wander around the room as I waited, flitting over the dark mahogany floors and the grey walls painted with a thick border strip of emerald green that went along the whole of the room, the potted plant in the corner to the left stood right next to a large bookshelf that housed books that she probably never truly read, was more for show since I know she didn't like reading all that much, but was always ready to have people believe she was thoroughly well read.

"Katherine! Jesus, are you even listening to me?"

"I'm sorry, what was that?" She gave me an amused look but sighed heavily in exasperation.

"Look, as I was trying to say earlier, the investigator I hired was recently in contact with me." My heart stopped at that.

"When?"

"Yesterday, he might've found something but before you get too excited I want you to first listen fully to what I say, okay, no interruptions. Are we clear?" I looked at her, trying to literally tear all the information I could from her eyes alone but she gave absolutely nothing away.

"Katherine?"

"Okay."

"Okay, what?"

"Okay, I understand."

"Good, well as I said the investigator got in touch with me and he says his found someone claiming to know the whereabouts of your daughter, only thing is that this person will not say anything unless he speaks to you directly, that's kind of why I was hesitant to bring this up because it sounds quite sketchy. However if you're willing to then we can set up a meeting. What do you think?"

"There's no question, do it!"

I didn't have to think, my heart knew the answer before the words left my mouth. I didn't care if this turned out to be a lost cause, yes it would hurt but it's better than what I had to go on before. So if anything were to come out of this, I didn't want to miss the opportunity.

"Alright we'll set up the meeting for this weekend, Saturday perhaps, right here at the Olympiad. Is that alright with you?"

"Yes, thank you, Cathy."

Don't worry cariño, mommy will find you soon.
