Part 1

His name is Spencer. He is your average reporter in Happy Tree. He wore a grey suit with a single red tie.He walked into work today hoping for peace and quiet. He did not get that.
The whole facility was in chaos. He walked passed many colleagues as they scrambled a round. A few were on phones.
When he got to his desk, he leaned over to the person next to him that wasn't in a hurry.
"What's going on?", he said.
"Oh, just the Royal family from a different country passing through our town. They will be staying the night here before going to their destination.", the woman said as she typed a way on her computer.
"Uh, they do realize that's not enough time for an interview right?", he said.
The woman ignored him for a solid five minutes. In that time, he went back to unpacking. The moment he sat down, she spoke again.
"I tried to tell them it's not as big of a deal as they're making it, but the director had a good point.", she said.
Spencer quirked his brow in question, waiting for her without prompt. She stopped typing to look at him.
"Happy Tree is home to strange and cruel deaths- no one is free from it because they always come back. Just last week we covered the story of a baby getting mauled by a raid filled dog. It would be a huge scandal and a major problem if the royal family gets hurt here while on vacation.", the woman said.
Spence thought about that and agreed. The baby was fine the next day like he was never hurt in the first place. They have no idea what would happen to outsiders.
Most who die here are residents of Happy Tree. Visitors rarely ever get hurt.
"The mayor is doing something about it right?", Spencer asked.
"Yes, he is finally passing the resurrection bill. It's about time too, I'm tired of stressing over my parents visiting me.", she said.
Spencer nodded and began to sign into his computer. He was relieved. Not everyone is protected by whatever force that is also killing them, many tourist that die don't come back.
Which makes him wonder what conditions are set in place other than being a resident of Happy Tree.
He spent the next to hours trying to write a report on a story he covered recently. The story is about a cafe that went out of business the day after it was completely packed for the first time.
He couldn't handle the background noise of the other employees so he decided to take a break.
He walked over to the break room, closed the door behind him and listened for sounds. Once he cleared the room, he opened the window.
He took his suit off to reveal his penguin in a bow tie boxers. He wasted no time to change into a super hero costume that he hid behind a ceiling tile.
Spencer was no ordinary news reporter. He was secretly the local hero, Splendid.
