chapter 15

ELLIE SAMUELS POV:

It's been a month since they left for their mission and it's been the hardest time of our lives. I received a letter from Danny 2 days ago, but due to the fact I don't know where they are. I haven't been able to send him one...

To my Darling Ellie,

Its rough. It will only get rougher. The plan is brutal but we are told it is necessary. I can't say anymore than that. Only 2 more months until you will be meeting me off the plane and running into my arms. 2 more months until I see you and I promise I will never let you go again. I miss you so much it hurts, but knowing I'll see you soon is driving me to being more ambitious, I'm getting things done quicker and safer, counting down the days until I get to kiss your lips again. 

I know you won't be able to write back to me but just know I'm thinking of you now more than ever before. I love you my beautiful sweetheart. Until we see eachother again soon.

Ps. I promise im coming home, you'll have to shovel me off of you, because if I have my way, I'll never leave you again.

When that letter arrived I couldn't stop smiling. Then I read that he was saying it was tough and I started hurting for him. Betty has heard from Red and he says everything is going ok as well. nothing to worry about, I am however curious about this mission. 

I decide to write a letter, I know I can't send it but its for when he gets back to me. When he is in my arms. 

Because most of the pilots have gone on the mission their hasn't been as many casualties, so we haven't been massively busy. 

Evelyn still works alongside me. she gives me the dirtiest looks still but I'm the winner. Danny didn't give up on us after what I put him through. He still wanted me.

She no longer lives with us, she moved out and into another nurses dorm. Betty threatened Evelyn that if she ever comes near Danny or I again, Betty would hurt her, she has listened to her warning so far.

Danny should be coming back tomorrow but we saw on the news. 

We saw on the news some really heartbreaking footage, Tokyo being bombed. Our men, bombed Tokyo from their planes. I saw it and I wondered where the humanity had gone.

I know the boys didn't want to hurt anyone, it was the people running our country. This world is becoming a ruin all because people can't get along, so their citizens have to die for the rulers of these countries. 

We haven't heard anything from the boys but that's because they should be coming back soon. 

As far as I know everyone survived but we haven't heard anything. 

When I saw the bombing, my heart shattered, I was scared for Danny, for Rafe, for Red. For everyone that got hurt. My head was filled with questions like, what if they didn't make it out?

What if they died?

What if I go to pick him up and he doesn't arrive?

What if Danny decided to be the hero?!
