8:20 am.
Faster...
I need to run faster.. I need to get there!
Shit really happens. I hate him. I hate them. I hate those people who made fun of the weak and helpless. I wish they would grow horns on their heads. It will really suit them.
I was very upset thinking about them but I decided to shake it off in the meanwhile.
~~~
I didn't know how I got to the school auditorium. All I know was that I kept running like I was being chased by a hundred hungry wolves. As soon as I arrived, I searched for Trixie and when she saw me, she quickly motioned for me to sit by her side. Thank goodness I was just on time for the awarding of diplomas. Phew, that was a close call! Better late than never. I'll never ever forget to set the alarm again next time. Never.I was feeling ecstatic when the event ended. At last, we're done with high school. I'm going to miss lots of things though, especially bonding with my friends at school, some of my teachers and the school itself but I know that I need to move on to the next level and strive for a brighter future. I almost forgot about the awful things that happened to me on the way to school earlier. Almost.
~~~
When we were heading out, me and a few friends including Trixie decided to grab something to eat in the nearest fast food chain since we're already starving from the long hours of waiting, standing, sitting and listening to boring speeches of the teachers, admin., and students who were lucky to receive special awards and honors.
I also decided to tell Trixie about the incident earlier when I came across with the arrogant boy. She didn't took it lightly. She was fuming with anger and irritation.
"Oh, my poor Chelsea! I didn't know. How I wish I was there to save you. You should have called me right away and I would have been there in no time. The next time you see him, don't you ever hesitate to call me, d'you hear me? I'll give him an earful. I'll really show him!" She said loudly."Thanks Trix, but hey just relax. I know that I could really count on you but I'm okay now, though. I was just a little taken aback 'coz I'm not used to that kind of treatment. I was so scared and embarrassed". I replied
"Yes, I know dear. I'm so worried. He's lucky he didn't hit you because if he did, I'll hunt him and I'll castrate him for sure". She said grudgingly.
"I'm sure you will. You're the best best friend. So, enough about him. Most importantly, nothing serious happened to me and I'll get to join you for dinner." I beamed at her.
"You're right, Chel. But I'm dead serious about calling me anytime when you need rescuing. Well, come on it's time to go." She said with a genuine smile.
~~~
After we finished, my best friend invited me to come to their house for dinner since she knew that I'm going to be alone anyway if I go straight home. I didn't mind accepting her offer because they had known me since grade school. She said that this dinner will serve as a celebration for her achievement as well as a family gathering. Her brothers, Lance and Axel also made sure to come home from Uni just to be there for their only sister on her special day. By the time we arrived, we were greeted by her parents.
"Here you are at last! Congratulations to the both of you! you really deserved it. Oh, I'm sooo happy. Come, dinner is almost ready". Her mother, Mrs. Moore said with teary eyes.
"Congratulations to the both of you. You're not little girls anymore so you need to be more careful in making your own decisions from now on. Oh, how time passed so quickly". Mr. Moore said authoritatively.
"Thanks mom, thanks dad! I wouldn't have gotten this far if it wasn't because of the two of you". Trixie said loudly.
"Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Moore. I'm very glad to be here to join your family for dinner. It's been a while since the last time". I smiled brightly at them.
"Sure thing. You know we're happy to have you". Mrs. Moore replied kindly.
Dinner went well and I was so full with Mrs. Moore's amazing cooking. She served a delicious steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. And then there's a yummy blue berry cheese cake for dessert. It's really good to have some of her cooking once in a while. The experience was priceless.
Trixie's brothers had matured noticeably. They were taller, buffer and more masculine now than the last time I saw them. They looked really good. They must be going to the gym. I missed them terribly. I could still remember how Axel, the eldest sibling, kept challenging me to play Tekken and Twisted Metal with him on his Play Station. I always lost the games and would walk out when he won't stop bragging about it. I won't forget the triumphant grin plastered on his face everytime he won. And then there was Lance, the mischievous one, who never got tired of teasing me about not having any boyfriend since birth because according to him, I had a banana body, flat chest and grumpy face. He said that guys would be afraid to approach me because of that. He would laugh so loud that the neighbors could almost hear him. But I knew that he was just joking and was only being playful. He was fond of annoying me.
"Hey Chelsea, I wanted to say that you look prettier now. I almost didn't recognized you at first. It seems like you really took my advise seriously. Do you finally have a boyfriend?" Lance said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Uhm.. no and I don't think I have time for boyfriends. Well, at least you finally admitted that I'm pretty. I know I'm really pretty even before. There's no doubt about that". I told him proudly with my head held high.
"Wow that's my girl. That's the spirit! Don't let him bully you again. But it's true Chel, that you've gotten prettier and sexier now. No kidding". Trixie said in an encouraging tone.
"Hahah yeah right. I guess I should just give you that credit. By the way, I'm happy for you. And what college were you planning to go to?" Lance asked.
"Oh yeah I'm curious, too..." Axel started.
"Have you already applied for college? If not yet, then you should go to Uni with us. It's really good there. There are a lot of courses to choose from. Trixie would also be there". Axel stated informatively. He stayed silent until this topic was mentioned.
"Yup! that's right and I can't wait for the semester to start. I'm so excited to try living in a dorm with a roommate. Like in the movies. How about you Chel? You are also going, aren't you? " Trixie said excitedly.
Oh no, the moment of truth. Here it comes...
I let out a deep sigh.
"Uhm.. I .. I don't think I'm going to college at all". I sadly told them while looking at the floor.
Why oh why Chelsea? :(
I hope you liked it. It took me so long to finish this chapter. I'm quite having a lot of writer's block lately. The introductions of the characters will be over soon and the real story will start so hold on and stay updated! The next chapter will be shorter but much more interesting. :) I can't keep up with writing more than a thousand words. And I'm sorry for the mistakes in spelling and grammar. This is unedited.Thanks for reading!
Steph ;)
