Horace winced as the door made a loud creak. Looking up quickly to see if Cassandra had moved at all from the bed.

It didn't look like she had, so he moved forward. Step by step, analyzing how he placed his feet to the floor, and shifting his weight carefully to avoid any sound.

He was so focused on the floor he hadn't seen Cassandra move from the bed, and didn't notice her until he saw the light suddenly flood the room.

He looked up to see the oil lamp by the bed lit, and a very cross looking Cassandra sitting up in bed, with her arms crossed over her chest.

"What exactly do you think you're doing Horace Altman." Cassandra said after a moment of silence.

Horace opened and closed his mouth several times. Licking his lips to stall for time.

"Well, you see-"

"Uh! Yes, yes I do see. I see that it's nearly 2 in the morning, I see my husband walking carefully across the floor with his hair all messy, and his night clothes all stained. I see that you. Horace. Have a lot of explaining to do."

Horace sat on his side of the bed. Looking at his wife with a grin,

"Honey. I was hungry. I was in the kitchen getting a sandwich, my hair's messy, because I still have bed head, and my clothes are stained because I'm a messy eater and I spilled jelly on my shirt"

He said it with a slightly humored tone, genuinely amused that his wife was getting so worked up about something that's so easily solved.

Which meant he was puzzled when he didn't see her looking satisfied with his answer. In fact, she looked more angry than she did before.

"Honey..." he started, "are you still mad at me?"

Cassandra's brows furrowed even further into her head, and she threw her arms up over her head

"Of course I'm still mad at you!"

She then proceeded to grab a pillow from behind her and throw it at Horace's face,

"Why the hell did you not bring me back a sandwich!?"

They laughed long and hard after that, completely uncaring that it was 2 in the morning.

Besides, they've been married for 6 months, the people in the castle should be used to the young royal couple's antics by now.
