Delilah Connors had a plan. Said plan entailed moving back to London, getting a normal job for the first time in her life, and staying as far away from any and all Avengers-esque bullshit. As things stood she had only accomplished the first part so far... Or at least she was in the process of it.

Moving herself, and what few personal belongings she had, into her new flat sounded easy but evidently, the world had it out for her. Her small collection of cardboard boxes was no match for London's temperamental weather. One moment it was clear skies, the next a torrential downpour.

Trying to juggle several soggy boxes up to her flat before they could collapse on her was no easy feat. By some miracle she had managed to do just that, her success left a small smile to tug at the corner of her lips. Her small victory didn't last very long though.

With her boxes resting on the floor, Delilah unlocked her door. Picking up the first of her measly four boxes, she moved to take it inside but a distressed grunt and the sound of things scattering along the floor stopped her. Dropping the box in her hand and kicking past the threshold of her flat, she spun around only to find someone sprawled out on the floor.

"Oh my god," Her eyes widened almost comically as she dropped to her knees beside the fallen man. "I am so sorry! Are you alright?"

The man in question turned his head to her, blinking rapidly before stumbling over his words as he sat up. "No, no, yeah. I'm fine. My fault, didn't look where I was going."

"Are you sure?" She asked, resting her hand gently on his upper arm.

The man stared at her hand for a moment, lips parted slightly. "Yeah, totally fine. Nothing broken."

As if to prove his point he gave himself a quick pat-down before moving to stand up. Delilah too stood back up, but not without offering her hand to him and helping him up as well.

"I take it your one of the neighbours then?" The woman mumbled awkwardly, trying to somehow save the trainwreck that was her first impression with her neighbour. "I uh, I'm Delilah by the way."

"Steven," He responded with a kind smile, extending his hand for her to shake. "With a 'V' not a 'PH' though I don't think that matters because we're talking not writing."

Delilah didn't even try to fight off the smile that blossomed at his ramblings. It was cute, endearing even.

"Oh," Steven muttered, shuffling his foot at the realisation that he was standing on one of her belongings. Reaching down he picked it up, examining it briefly to make sure he hadn't broken it before holding it out for Delilah to take.

Her old SHIELD ID being held out to her made her heart drop to her stomach. She took it quickly, a little too quickly which confused Steven a little but he didn't say anything on the matter, and shoved it into her pocket.

"You a cosplayer or something?" He asked innocently. Delilah breathed a sigh of relief. "That's really detailed, proper good prop that is."

"Uh, yeah." She scratched her cheek, a small awkward laugh leaving her as she mentally thanked him for unwittingly giving her an easy enough lie to play off of. "It's for comic-con and stuff."

"Cool. Who do you do?" He asked.

And it was then that she truly out her foot in her mouth.

"Oh, uh-" Her mind went blank, suddenly she couldn't remember a single one of her ex-colleagues to keep the lie going. "Um, Soul Seeker."

Yep, Delilah hated herself.

"Huh," Steven mused, looking her over a little more closely this time. All Delilah could do was pray that her new haircut would throw him off just enough to not recognise her. If sunglasses and a baseball hat worked for Sam and Steve, a haircut could work for her, right? "I see it. You do look a lot like her."

"I'll take that as a compliment." She forced a smile.

"Oh, it was!" He assured quickly, almost as if he had been worried he'd somehow offended her. "Soul Seeker's in my top three, y'know."

"Right, well I should clear this u-"

"Yeah, no I'm gonna be late for work." He cut her off, apologising quickly after having not meant to. "It was nice meeting you, Delilah."

"You too." She responded before all but running into her flat and out of sight.

If Fury could see her now he'd be rolling in his fake grave.
