Qulsum

The entire Irani mansion was buzzing with people and their chatters. The Hall and stairs were adorned with garlands.
It was finally the day my little sister Shiza was getting married.

“Qulsum please check on Shiza. That girl might be freaking out..” Mom said walking past me towards the kitchen.

Giving her a nod I strolled towards the her room. Knocking the door once I stepped inside to find Shiza walking to and fro. A look of anguish plastered all over her face.

“What are you doing Shiza? You haven’t even worn the dress yet.” I mutter staring at her bridal dress which was sprawled on the bed.

Biting her manicured nails she plopped on bed, “I am having this unpleasant feeling as if something bad is going to happen…”

“What?” I ask utterly baffled. “Stop thinking all this nonsense Shiza. Today is your big day. I know you are nervous but believe me Zayaan loves you. I have seen it in his eyes.” I try to placate her but to be honest even I was anxious. Since morning I have this gut feeling that something bad was going to happen.

“You sure it’s only because I am nervous right?” She asked with shaky voice. Her eyes laced with wild fear.

Before I could answer we heard screaming and hooting with laughter sound making both of us jolt towards balcony.

A sleek white BMW entered our gate and Zayaan stepped out of the car grinning. He looked like a model stepped out of magazine. His chiselled features stood out as the run rays reflected on his face. His black attire complimented his skin; girls practically swoon at the sight of him, and to be honest I couldn’t help but stare at him myself.

I peer at him without blinking my eyes. This might be last time I would look at him freely because after today he will be my brother-in-law.

As if he sensed my stare he heaved his head and looked at the balcony making my heart thump. He peered for more than the usual time with a midget smile laced on his face.

“I should get ready…” Shiza's voice broke the trance of my thought. I shudder turning around only to find her standing right behind me.
He was looking at her!

“Yeah, I will go down and help mom.” I reply as she walks inside.
Following her I stepped inside the room and before closing the balcony door I peeked down to find Zayaan still looking up. His eyes gleamed with happiness the moment our eyes met. Furrowing my brows I angle my head sideways to look behind me and Shiza wasn’t there.

Don’t think anything Qulsum, he is just being good. My subconscious yelled before I could think rubbish.

I gave him a light smile which he returned with a curt nod and very sexy smirk. And that bloody smirk did wonders in my stomach.

Tucking my hair properly inside the headscarf, I stroll down stairs.
Zayaan along with his friends were sitting on left side of the garland partition.
He was listening to his friend while a constant smile was plastered on his face.
