Chapter 24

The next day

Renzo's POV:

"Can you take me to work?" Stephanie asked me while she gave me my morning cup of coffee.

"Sure" I said and she gave me a sweet smile.

I felt bad but I was thinking about Elodie. I mean I did think she was dead for two years and now she's back and I'm not even sure what to think. But I have Stephanie now and I knew I wouldn't hurt her. What me and Elodie had is in the past.

"Stef" I said and she looked at me.

"What would you do if your husband came back?" I asked her and she gave me a confused look.

"I don't know, why are you asking me this?" She asked me.

"Just wanted to know" I simply said and saw a smile appear on her face.

"Are you scared I would leave you if he came back?" She said and walked over to me sitting on my lap.

She gave me a kiss and then got off my lap.

"Honestly I don't think I would go back to him" she then said and walked over to the fridge.

Later the same day

Elodie's POV:

I was going to meet Renzo to talk about some things about the help I had asked for him and honestly I was feeling nervous.

Knowing he had a girlfriend and that I still had feeling for him made me feel awkward and made me want to stay away from him. I might be many things but I'm not a home wrecker.

I walked into Renzo's office once again without letting anyone know and he was talking with someone on the phone.

He noticed me walk in and I walked over to the sofa and sat down. He looked really mad at the phone conversation he was having.

"Sorry, it was Esther" he said hanging up the phone.

"It's okay" I said and looked at him.

"How is she?" I asked him genuinely being curious as I had made good friends with his sister.

"She's good" he simply said and then went to talk about business.

He kept everything very professional and honestly I was even a little bit surprised. But maybe it was better this way, I mean I was here only to deal with my business and then I would go back to Florence.

"So are you okay with that?" He then asked me after finishing stating his plan.

"Yeah, sounds good" I said and stood up from the sofa.

"Elodie" he then said before I was about to walk out of his office and I turned to face him.

"You forgot your keys" he said pointing to the sofa where my car keys had fallen out of my bag.

I smiled at him nicely and took the keys and then left.

I got inside my car and rested my head against the steering wheel. I realised that I barely heard a word he said as I was so deep in my thought the entire time. I knew I needed to be gone as soon as all this is solved.
