Authority

I did not give him authority over me ,
But he assumed it anyway
On a dark starless night
In a damp godless alley
First blinded by my fear
Then blinded by the blood trickling down my face
My screams weren't the only things piercing
I reached out to inflict injury
But only felt something crack
Something between my body and my spirit
He trots off into the cloak of the night
And running away beside him
Was my chance of justice
I did not give him authority over me
But the law might say I did.
