chapter forty-six

Bear laid her head on her dads shoulder as she waited for Aaliyah to answer the phone.

"Hello?" Aaliyah answered.

"Do you wanna come to the zoo with us?" Bear asked, crossing her fingers as she waited for Aaliyah to answer her question.

"Is your daddy okay with that?" Aaliyah asked even though she already knew the answer.

"Yes! Kaiser and me wanna see you too!" Bear said.

"Well then of course I'll come to the zoo with you!" Aaliyah said, smiling when she heard Bear and Kaiser start cheering in excitement.

They hung up, Vinnie telling her he'd be there soon to get her.

"Mommy!" Kaiser yelled, reaching his arms out when Aaliyah opened the back door and attacked him in kisses.

"Hi my handsome man." Aaliyah squealed back.

"Kith." Kaiser said, leaving a kiss on her cheek.

"Mommy's gonna sit in the front with daddy okay? Would you like me to hold your hand for a little while?" Aaliyah smiled and kissed his cheek again.

Kaiser nodded, immediately reaching for her hand when she got in the front seat. Aaliyah gave Vinnie a kiss, taking hold on Kai's hand in the meantime.

"You're dating!" Bear said, launching in between the two.

"Yes baby, we're dating." Vinnie kissed Bear's cheek as she crawled into the backseat.

"Mommy hand. Mommy hand." Kaiser said, shoving his small hand into Aaliyah's when their hands detached for a moment.

"Are you guys ready to see animals now?" Vinnie asked, receiving two very loud "yes"'s from the backseat of the car.

"Daddy look at the flamingos. We should take one home." Bear said.

"And do what with it? Keep it on our bedroom?" Vinnie laughed.

"Yes, it can take Kaiser's bed since he likes to sleep with you in your bed." Bear said.

"Don't dog my baby like that." Vinnie poked her cheek.

"Yeah yeah, now go get me a flamingo." Bear pointed to the stand where they stuffed flamingos.

Vinnie smiled, walking over to the stand and bought his very excited and smiley daughter a flamingo who she, for some reason, name George.

"This is George." Bear said, showing Aaliyah the stuffed flamingo.

"I love him so much." Aaliyah smiled, not realizing that Vinnie was snapping tons of pictures of her and the kids together.

She had Kaiser on her hip and she was crouched down in front of Bear who was explaining something about her new stuffed animal. The way she listened so intently and talked to his daughter made his heart flutter and he knew he wouldn't find anyone like her.

"What would you like for dinner girls and little man?" Vinnie asked.

"Chinese!" Aaliyah and Bear said at the same time.

"Kaiser? What's your thoughts on Chinese food?" Vinnie asked.

"Mommy feed me." Kaiser answered sleepily as he layed his head against Aaliyah's shoulder.

"Okay baby" Vinnie kissed Kaiser's forehead, and then picked up Bear who was complaining that her feet hurt.

The four of them walked out of the parking lot with their bags and Bear's stuffed flamingo and a grizzly bear that she had been given for free by the employee at the bear display since that was her name.

"Thank you for inviting me." Aaliyah said as she got in the passengers seat after they had buckled both kids up.

"It was Bear's idea but you're welcome!" Vinnie answered, leaning over and kissing her.
