Kaeya had managed to wriggle out of being stuck in the same room for which archons knew how long. He loved Klee, he did, but sometimes she could be too much, plus as the Captain of the Knights, Kaeya had a lot of duties that he had to do, which unfortunately never included blowing places up with the young spark knight. Luckily he had managed to finish his daily duties early and was now relaxing at the tavern with a much needed drink. Being the time of day, the tavern wasn't overly busy. Rosaria was more than likely being forced to participate in something related to barbatos by Barbara, and the bard would probably arrive later after he was done playing his lyre to the civilians in Monstadt by the large statue of barbatos.

Luckily for him, it was one of the very rare days Diluc himself manned the bar, meaning he could: check up on him, annoy and tease him, and potentially even coax some free wine out of him. The idea was amusing to him.

"Death after Noon please Master Diluc!" He grins, as Diluc rolls his eyes.
"Should you really be drinking this early?" He asks
"Oh come on~ one never hurt anyone, besides it's been a long day already." He explains with a short chuckle as Diluc sighs, making his drink before sliding it across the bar to him.

Taking a small sip, he let out a content sigh. Before twirling the glass around, watching as the two ice cubes danced around in the drink.
"So- Master Diluc. How's business doing?" He asks, a grin on his face as always. Diluc looked at him with a sigh.
"What do you think?" His tone was cold, as he wiped a glass dry before moving to the next one.
"No need to be so cold, it was a harmless question." He chuckles while taking another sip from his drink.
"Whatever."
"I take it you aren't in the mood to talk then, i see." He explains smirking as he saw the red head's face scrunch up in irritation as if to say 'isn't it obvious'.
'Speaking without words has always been a talent of his' he joked to himself as he fell quiet again. The sounds of the few adventurers and townspeople chatting and the faint music filled the background.

"You know Diluc, if you keep frowning like that you'll never get a lady." He sighs exasperated, feeling sorry for the poor man. He knew first hand Diluc struggled with emotions compared to any other human, and he was never one to be approachable for people. However Diluc ignored him, completely used to the teases Kaeya sent his way, and soon after a few minutes of teasing, Kaeya continued to talk about his day like usual. The commissions, the requests all sorts with a grin, knowing that even if his old brother wouldn't talk, he would still listen.

"Oh yeah and then this Mitachurl threw his-" he stopped, flashes of images and such flashed through his mind as a pain shooting through his head and eye that was covered, a pain that increased incredibly by the second.
The glass slipped out his hand and crashed onto the floor as the liquid splattered across the floor boards with the glass pieces, as his hands went up to his temple area and covered his mouth. He felt sick from the pain, and this 'headache' was getting worse. His lips trembled and sweat rolled down his forehead and tears fought for their life to escape. Everything was becoming a blurry mess to him as he continued to stare down at the bar and floor.

"Kaeya?" Diluc asks
"Kaeya... stop messing around." His voice held more concern the more he spoke as he put the glass and towel down.
"Ngh-" Kaeya let out a pained groan, trying to be as quiet as possible, however failing as ihe let out a pain cry.
"Gah- i-it hurts... so much!" He let out, tears finally breaking free as a few rolled down. His whole body was shaking. His eyes were closing and growing weak, all his strength being used to keep himself up on the stool and fight back the pain.
"KAEYA!" Diluc yelled out as he fell off the stool onto the wooden floor. He rushed out from behind the bar, immediately kneeling down at his side. At this point a crowd of worried people filled the area.
"Kaeya! Stay with me. Keep your eyes open!" Diluc explains as calmly as he could.
Turning to the crowd he looked through it for any familiar faces.

"SOMEONE GET MASTER JEAN AND BARBARA!" He yelled out as a lot of people nodded, communicating between them as some went for barbara and some for jean.
"C'mon Kaeya!" He explains, his tone worried
"Everyone leave! The tavern is closing. Charles!" He calls looking at Charles who nods leading everyone out. Taking his jacket off, he folded it, placing it under his head.
"D-Diluc?" He manages out, eyes barely staying open.
"Yes Kaeya. I'm here! Try and stay awake. Barbara and Jean are coming." Kaeya groans, before letting out another cry of pain. His breaths were heavier, and he lacked the strength to move, as his eyes slowly closed.
"KAEYA!" Was the last thing he could hear as he let the pain engulf him in darkness.

Timeskip

"What do we do? He's been out for over a day now."
"I know Kaeya, I know he will make it out of this and he'll live."
"I'm sorry I couldn't do anything else... it was the best i could do..."
"It's fine Barbara, thank you for doing the best you could."

Faint noises filled Kaeya's ears, as his eyes opened very slowly. He could feel something cold on his forehead, but it felt much, much nicer compared to the burning and painful sensation he could feel before, he let out a groan of pain as he looked up at the ceiling. 'Huh? Is this... Dawn Winery?' He thought, beyond surprised.

"Kaeya!" Jean and Dilucs concerned voices filled the air.
"Captain Kaeya!" Barbara's alongside them
He went to sit up, but held his head in pain.
"We're so glad you're ok!" Jean explains relieved
Kaeya glanced over at Diluc who avoided his gaze, suddenly finding an interest in his own clothes. A smile fell over Kaeya's face.
"I'm fine now.. I suppose I have Diluc to thank for that." He explains his tone gently, which Diluc was more than relieved to hear than his teasing tone, as he looked up.
"Yeah well I couldn't have the captain of the knights dying in my tavern. It would look bad." Diluc explains, a hint of a smile on his lips.
"Kaeya. Do you remember what happened?" Jean asks gently
He was silent for a moment.
"Not really... I remember I was at the tavern, having a drink and such, the normal. When I suddenly got this really painful headache. And then just.. passing out."
Jean nods slowly.

"Any idea what caused it?" Kaeya shook his head but cringed at the pain.
"Sorry.. but I don't. It definitely wasn't the drink though. It tasted fine." He explains jean nods
"You did have a lot of stressful duties that day though.. maybe you were overworked.. or stressed?" Jean asks
"I don't think I was. If I was, it was why I went to the tavern." He explains
"It might have been one of those headaches that come and go out of nowhere." Barbara explains as Jean and Diluc nod.
"We should get going but Diluc, are you able to look after him? Until he has his strength back?" Jean asks as Diluc nods.
"Of course."
"Thank you. You are a lifesaver!" She explains smiling before she left, as Diluc sat beside him on a chair.
They were silent for a while, both rather comfortable in the silence before Kaeya let out a light chuckle, being mindful of his head.

"This reminds me of when we were kids. I used to get sick really easily and you'd have to look after me..." he explains with a faint smile on his lips as he recalled the memories.
"Every winter because you either never wrapped up warm or because you naturally get sick easily." Diluc continues with a chuckle, as the two continue to talk about previous memories, reconstructing the relationship they had once broken.
