Ko's pov
The sound of cars angrily beeping jolted me awake.
"Hey sleepyhead we're almost here".
I sat in confusion for a spilt second before I remembered, it was my new social worker, I was going to a new home, I would be free from my 16 year long nightmare.
"Where are you taking me?" I mumbled.
"You'll see, I found this nice lady, Mrs Benson she is used to coping with troubled teens."
Troubled teens.
I thought this woman was supposed to be trained to know what situation people were in.
Whatever.
Maybe everyone in the world is untrustworthy.
Or.. is it just me who's the problem.
I couldn't help letting a tear escape as it rolled down my cheek in frustration.
The lady noticed "Poppet don't worry everything is going to get better" she drooled sympathetically.
I appreciate your kindness i thought, but you have no meaning behind those empty words.
I turned my head to stare out of the window.
Grey skies, grey streets, grey houses.
This place looked bleak.
The vehicle swerved into a road labelled 'Bell Creak' and slowly came to a holt.
The lady motioned at me to get out of the car.
I had no idea what the time was as my mobile was no longer in my pocket but the sky was still light.
We were outside a two story colourless house which had an even more bland grey door.
I hope not everything here is so dismal.
The woman from the car was now outside too, patting herself down like she was being checked for illegal items.
She saw me looking in wary and gave me a cheerful smile as she placed a lanyard with freakily bright cartoon characters around her neck.
The card at the bottom read: 'Mary Smith, Childcare worker'.
Mary gave me a small lecture about what was going to happen and eventually told me to knock on the door.
We probably looked like a bunch of squabbling seagulls.
I reluctantly shifted over closer to the door and gave it a weak knock.
"Oh for goodness sake" she said impatiently "Move over, let me".
I almost fell off the step to the front door because this woman was quite large, I was worried I would suffocate.
The lady gave a couple loud knocks and we stood in silence- my eyes glued to the floor.
The door creaked open just before we were going to give up.
