35th chapter

It was a long night. I tried not think about what happened. But who am I kidding. I didn't sleep at all. Rewinding Tom's words. And how he tried to ignore me the remaining of the night.

Let's try not to think about it today though. It's going to be hard because I'm going to see him all day. But let's try.

I heard someone yelling as I entered the building. I walked closer to find Sophie(one of our receptionist) arguing with a middle aged woman.
Y/n:hey Sophie. What's wrong?
S:this woman here wants to see mr.holland without an appointment.
Y/n:ohhh okay. I'll take care of it. Thanks Sophie

Sophie walked away mumbling something. I turned to the woman smiling.
Y/n:im so sorry about my coworker's behavior. I'm y/n *i extend my hand for her* mr.holland's assistant. How can I help you?
She accepted my hand and shake it: i just want to see him
Y/n:but you don't have an appointment?
??:no i don't
Y/n:okay. Let me check his agenda to see if he's free.

You take out you tablet and look through his appointment for today
Y/n:fortunately. Mr.holland is free till 9:30am
So why don't we go and wait for him upstairs?
??:of course

You both walk together to the elevator. And reach your office. You open the door and gesture for her to walk in
Y/n:so this is my desk. You can take a seat here. Make yourself comfortable as I clean his desk. Do you want to drink anything?
??:coffee would be nice
Y/n:be right back

After cleaning Tom's desk and bringing his coffee and magazines. You walk back to your office with the woman's coffee.
Y/n:here's your coffee.
??:thanks dear. When is he going to be here?
Y/n:any minute Now.
??:so you come here before him?
Y/n:yeah. I clean his desk. Bring his daily magazines. And I place a fresh cup of coffee for him.
??:so how is it working here?
Y/n:i like Working here. The people here are nice
??:that's not what I saw earlier
Y/n:yeah. I'm sorry about her
??:that's okay. And how is your boss?
Y/n:he's okay.
??:is he strict?
Y/n:when it comes to work he is. He takes it very seriously, but that's how it should be. He gets bossy sometimes . But otherwise he's a very nice person.
??:woow. Seems like you like working here
Y/n:i love working here.
??:good for you. *few moments of silence passed by* do you have a boyfriend?
Y/n:excuse me?
??:im sorry to be forward. But I noticed that you don't have a ring on your finger. So you're not married or engaged. So maybe a boyfriend?
Y/n:umm no. I don't have a boyfriend.
??:wonderful. *you raise your eyebrow at her* I mean how can a wonderful girl like you be single?
Y/n:i don't know. Haven't found the right one yet I guess.
??:sometimes the right one is so close. But you can't see it

We heard the door of Tom's office open. And he walked in and sat directly on his chair looking through his phone.
Y/n:ohh he's here. Let me tell him that you want to see him
You knock on the door connecting your offices
T:come in
Y/n:good morning mr.holland
T:good morning
Y/n:mr.holland , there is someone who wants to see you.
T:I don't recall having an appointment.
Y/n:well you don't. But she wants to see you
T:okay

You sign to her and she walks in. Tom stands up and walk to her
T:mom? What are you doing here?
N:I came here to see you

You stood there in shock. It's his mom?
T:y/n why didn't tell me she's my mom? And why she was waiting outside?
Y/n:i...i didn't know she's your mother mr.holland I'm sorry
N:ohhh don't be hard on her darling. She was kind enough to let me in. The other one was shouting at me.
T:the other one? What other one?
N:i don't know her. She was at the reception
T:who was it y/n?
Y/n:ummm... it was Sophie
T:I'll have a talk with her
N:that can wait to later
T:come on let's sit down. Do you want a coffee?
N:y/n already served me a coffee. But I do want to have a breakfast with you outside
T:ohhh i can't. Me and The boys have a show we have to attend in few minutes.
N:ohh come on. I flew here from London and you can't have some breakfast with me?
T:I just...
Y/n:i can go to the show in your place
T:are you sure about it?
Y/n:yeah absolutely. I know all the guests and I don't have much to do anyways.
N:see that's sorted
T:okay fine. Let's go then
