The warm yellow rays wafting through the window had disturbed Anu's slumber. She rolled over to hit something hard. She slowly turned and placed her head on his chest, giving it a soft kiss. Listening to the sound of his heartbeat was her soothing routine.
Ding-dong, the shrill sound of the doorbell woke them up."Anooj dekhiye na kon aaya he" Anu whimpered. "So jao Anu, jo bhi he todi der baad chala jayega"Anuj groaned. But the impatient visitor just continuously rang the bell, forcing Anuj and Anu to open the door.
The "SURPRISE!!!" had caught both of them off guard. It was her kids - Samar, Pakhi,Kinjal, and Toshu. The four of them ran over to their mother to give her a hug and Samar pulled Anuj into it as well. 'Family hug' they screamed. Anuj and Anu were filled with happiness and gratitude. Yes, the kids were involved in their wedding. But neither Toshu nor Paakhi had accepted their relationship completely until now.
The group quickly settled down in the living room. And as soon as Anuj went into the kitchen to get them breakfast, Anu was questioned by her kids. "Aap khush ho naa mummy?", Pakhi asked.
"Main toh bohot bohot khush hun, sirf tum logon ko 'todi' miss karti hun" Anu replied with a mischievous smile on her face. "Mummy aap bhi naa!!" they said in unison.
After having a hearty breakfast, they ended up playing games and having lots of fun.

"Main aapse kuch kehna chahta hoon" Samar told Anuj with a serious look on his face.
"Yes, Buddy tell me. Kya baat he? Kuch hua he kya?" Anuj was concerned.
"No..No...Aise koi baat nahi he. I just wanted to thank you." he clarified.
Anuj was perplexed. He did not understand why Samar was thanking him.
Samar continued"Thank you meri Mummy ki life mein itne saare khushiyaan laane ke liye...mere 'friend', 'guide' aur 'rolemodel' bane ke liye....mujhe sahi raasta dikhane ke liye aur hamesha mere saath dene ke liye. You have become a very important part of my life. Aapne mujhe woh pyaar aur samaan diya joh meri family mujhe nahi de paaya. You were more of a father to me than anyone else. So main aapse puchna chahta hoon ki kya main aapko 'Papa' bula sakta hoon?"
Hearing this, Anuj hugged Samar as tightly as he could. Tears rolled down their faces. There was not a dry eye in the room.
He was speechless. Just saying that he was extremely overwhelmed wouldn't begin to describe how he was feeling right now. He reacted in the only way he could by nodding his head. Anuj never expected this. He thought that the kids only saw him as their mother's husband or a friend. And he couldn't believe that Samar, who calls his own father by his surname, wanted to call him 'Papa'. He couldn't comprehend anything. Is this what it felt like to be a father??
The others huddled around in a group...no....family hug. Paakhi, Toshu, and Kinjal whispered "Hum bhi aapko 'Dad' bula sakte hain na?"
"Of course guys...Bilkul."Anuj replied.
Anuj turned and looked at Anu. She had the biggest smile on her face. She was ecstatic. Both Anu and Anuj never expected this scenario. Their happiness knew no bounds. Without breaking the hug, Anuj swiftly bent down, gave Anu a peck on her forehead, and mouthed a 'thank you'.
