Chapter 18| The Sin's of A Father

It was the first time since our arrival here that Drake actually looked at peace despite how dramatic the situation was. His soft features were relaxed as he snuggled his head up my lap. If it weren't for his brothers glaring at me like this was my fault, I would've left him to his peace.

"I don't get it. He finally comes home and the moment Nikolai shows up, he faints. It's..."

Patrick spoke up before his older brother could even finish  "Are you all really that stupid. Haven't you realized that cookie ran away so he wouldn't have to marry that sack of shit!" Patrick was pointing at Nikolai who hadn't moved from his place by the archway. His eyebrows were raised in surprise at the mention of his name, but he had yet to say anything.

"What are you talking about Patrick? From my understanding Drake was ecstatic about marrying Nikolai," William replied. It was like everyone of them only knew bits and pieces of what was true or false about Drake's reality. Even I had yet to find out the complete severity of it.

"Did you ever once ask Drake how he felt or did you just take father's word for it?" My head turned towards the eldest brother, Anthony. He seemed to be the quietest and hardest to read in the room. His stoic face only every changed when something involving his omega brother was mentioned.

He was all man, standing at least 6ft tall with a buzz cut and a dusting of dark blond facial hair. He piercing blue eyes demanded a unsettling respect that even his father couldn't amount to.

"What about how Drake was treated in his relationship with Nikolai? Did any of you notice that Drake would lock himself away for days on end just to get away from Nikolai when he was in heat? Did any of you who knew what was really happening, stop Nikolai. Mom? The twins Alex and Ben? All three of you knew."

"I wouldn't go as far as that. I was his alpha and he was in heat. What did you expect me to do, just sit there? He was in pain and the only thing..."

"Nikolai! I'd refrain from saying anything else if you want to leave here with your life!" Patrick threatened. Drake shifted his head just a bit, probably feeling how unsettled I felt. Things were playing out worse than I expected and Drake's father hadn't even showed up yet.

"I've come to terms with what I did and I hate myself for that. I live with the fact that I wasn't strong enough to save him," their mother admitted. The woman had nothing else to hide. She had already expressed her grief to Drake.

Everyone turned their heads to Ben and Alex. Ben was a taller version of Drake, displaying that same innocent look that was anything but. His eyes relayed every emotion he felt, but Alex was the first to speak. His face was just as unmoving as his opinion. "Drake needed to be protected. If not Nikolai than who? So what if Nikolai had sex with his omega. They were engaged. The only way to relieve an omega of their pain in heat is through sex. What other way...."

"Drake explained to me every gruesome detail of what would occur when Nikolai would enter the room, Alex. He'd beg for Nikolai to leave him alone to wallow in his pain. Any alpha knows not to act on an omega who doesn't want to be touched during heat. It's the first thing we learn in sex ed and Drake would scream for Nikolai not to do it, but it always went unheard..." Alex and Ben's faces twisted with discomfort as their eldest brother continued. "He described to me how he tried to run away or at least fight back, but it was no use Nikolai would just over power him and if  Drake got to unruly he'd beat him. You ever wonder why Drake is so good at make up? It's to hide the bruises he was left with after his heats. Our dear brother never wanted us to worry. He felt like it was his duty to please our father by being a good omega and staying quiet about the abuse."

I felt sick. I knew about Drake being raped, but he never talked about being beaten.To think that someone had the audacity lay a finger on such a delicate boy left me seething. How could someone have that much evil in them.
