Chapter 54: Marley Versus Paradis

Meanwhile on the main battlefield,

As the six titans battled it out, they nearly level the surrounding city to the ground. The chaos was immensely worse than when Eren and Annie fought in Stohess and was sure to leave Liberio unrecognizable. However you strictly advised Eren, Reiner and Pieck to keep the fighting inside the now evacuated internment zone as you didn't want to endanger the lives of Marlean civilians.

Zeke uses the rubble from the buildings to attack Reiner from a distance like he did during your last confrontation. Unlike Commander Erwin and Marlowe however, the Armored Titan was able to take on the barrage of rocks head on thanks to its hardening. While his defense was solid, Reiner couldn't get close to Zeke as he consistently kept his distance and attacked Reiner with boulders.

A few blocks away from them, Eren punches the Warhammer Titan with all his strength which sends it flying across the block and it crashes on a building. Eren immediately followed up with a barrage of ground and pound attacks and put it in a triangle lock to expose it's nape.

Mikasa then dives in from behind and bombards it with Thunder Spears. Since you and Levi were proficient using blades to fight titans, Mikasa instead focused on polishing up her skills with Thunder Spears over the past three years and developed her own style. She was the only soldier on Paradis who was capable of firing multiple shots at the same time.

With that, she would've taken out any other titan with a single blow, but it turns out that the Warhammer in particular was a bad match-up for her. As the smoke cleared, Mikasa was shocked to find that while her attack did indeed hit it's mark, the Warhammer Titan's nape was empty.

Just then, Eren notices a chord attached to the titan's foot and pulls on it. He notices that the chord was connected to something underground, but before he could dig it up, a multitude of giant spike sprung up from the ground and impaled the Attack Titan.

The Warhammer then dissolved and reappears from the ground to free itself from Eren's grip and makes a giant crossbow with its hardening. As it was about to fire at Eren's nape, the Cart titan swoops in and bites the chord that connected the titan to its user who was likely underground.

The Warhammer Titan once again dissolves and Pieck uses the opportunity to quickly dig up the crystal that contained Lara Tybur— Willy Tybur's sister inside. As she did, the Jaw Titan leaps off a building and attempts to bite her nape. However Jean zips in and fires a thunder spear at its jaw before it could bite into Pieck.

Mikasa helps Eren out of the Attack Titan's nape and he immediately transforms for a second time. He held down the Jaw titan as Mikasa cut Porco out of its nape. Thanks to the assists from Mikasa and Jean, Eren and Pieck successfully restrain the Warhammer and Jaw Titans.

As they did however, Reiner who was fighting the Beast Titan by himself seemed to be having a harder time as the barrage of rocks slowly but surely start to weather away his armor like waves crashing on a rock— except these waves were made of boulders flying at Mach speeds.

Over at the port,

As the ships set off to Paradis with the refugees, you, Bertolt and Levi remain in Liberio to provide backup to Eren and the others, leaving Annie and the rest of your squad to protect the people on the ships.

You and Petra tried your best to get Levi to board the ship and fall back with them, but he insisted on staying; pointing out how he had some unfinished business with the Beast Titan. After he told you about his promise to Commander Erwin, you decide to respect his conviction and let him stay.

Just as the ships carrying the refugees disappear at the horizon, a fleet of Marlean warships appear from the opposite direction and start making their way towards the port. You ask Levi to go ahead and provide backup to the others at the main battlefield while you and Bertolt take out the Marlean ships.

You figure they were likely carrying reinforcements from a nearby colony and couldn't afford to let them make landfall as they would instantly outnumber your troops. So you and Bertolt get on a small boat and discretely make your way towards the fleet of ships.

Once you were right in the middle of their formation, you give Bertolt the cue and he transforms into the Colossal Titan. The explosion from his transformation wipes out the entire fleet of ships along with part of the port.

Bertolt formed his titan around you in a way that you would be inside the Colossal's mouth which kept you safe from the explosion. It was a technique derived from when Eren defended Mikasa and Armin from the Garrison's canon-fire by partially forming his titan around them.

You step outside the Colossal's mouth to ascertain the godly destruction caused by his transformation. It was even more powerful than when he leveled the forest back then and had left a giant crater in the middle of the ocean. Having taken out the fleet of ships, you position yourself on the Colossal's collarbone and the two of you make your way towards the main battlefield.

Meanwhile,

As Reiner reached his Limit, the Beast Titan throws a final wave of rocks at him which takes out the last of his armor. Zeke then charges towards Reiner and pins him to the ground.

Just then, Levi suddenly appears and slices the Beast Titan's arms to release its grip on Reiner. His injuries made him slower which allows Zeke to kick Levi and send him flying back. Reiner barely makes it in time to catch Levi before he crashed into a building.

Stripped of his armor, the titan's hands were soft enough to cushion the impact a bit, but Levi breaks his leg upon landing. His ODM gear was still intact, so he ignores the pain and springs back up with a burst of energy, channeling his Ackerman strength and charges towards the Beast Titan.

Before Zeke could even react, Levi slices him up in a flash and cuts him out of the nape. With his last ditch effort, Levi managed to keep his promise to Commander Erwin, but it came at the cost of suffering permanent damage to his leg.

With that your friends had successfully captured all of Marley's titan shifters. However they are immediately ambushed by the Marlean reinforcements that had arrived on land. Their automobiles had anti-titan artillery mounted on them, but it seemed they won't even need to use them as Eren, Reiner and Pieck were tired out from their battle.

As the soldiers were about to surround them, you and the Colossal Titan march onto the scene. They quickly retreat and prepare their weapons, but the artillery was no match against the Colossal's sheer size.

With one sweep of his foot, Bertolt takes out the mobile artillery along with the soldiers who mounted them. Seeing that, Magath orders all their troops to retreat. You meet up with the rest of your forces and head back to Paradis on the aircraft, along with the captured titan shifters.
